We stumbled into this delightful Scottish pub to escape the cold icy wind and weren’t disappointed. It was an oasis in a back lane almost hidden from view.
We have been in couple of times for drink and food .most recent visit yesterday. Food fantastic. Staff are amazin 10 out of 10 . Always smiling helpful nothing is too much for them. Totally recommend this place. X
Was in for a drink yesterday and have had to start drinking gluten-free craft beer. Asked a member of staff what they had and he was very informative and was able to tell me about dry gate brewery who do gluten-free too.
It’s a nice place with kind staff and delicious food.
Great pub..friendly staff..beautiful decor..very traditional and reasonable prices for a city centre pub..very nice wine too
Friendly staff, amazing steakpie and the drinks good too
Friendly and knowledgeable bar staff and beautiful, original surroundings. Handy for train station.
Fantastic pub food, great selection of real ales and honest, professional friendly service. You can’t beat that!
Excellent lunch time meal.Good beer & a wonderful atmosphere.
Brilliant nightfood, staff, beer awesome everyone. Thank you loads for a brilliant night
A real find and so handy for Princes Street and railway station. Our Australian waitress was delightful, the food was hot, wholesome and filling.
A last drink before home didn’t eat here today but have enjoyed a lovely evening meal on our last trip x
A favourite pub of ours when we go to Edinburgh, usually the first stop; get to the top of Waverley steps then cross the round. Always a decent crowd of people and excellent bar staff. Didn't realise that it was a dog friendly pub but not surprised as that's the kind of place it is. We have never tried the food there but it looks appetising.
Visited this pub on recommendation. Wasn't disappointed as staff friendly punts on offer guest ales £2-50 a pint great for a city. Menu was varied and enjoyed our lunch and pint very much. Would go back when visiting Edinburgh.
The Guildford is a must when visiting Edinburgh. It’s tucked away not far from Waverley Station and could be considered a bit of a tourist trap but I have never really got that feeling the times I’ve been in there. It’s one of the best pubs for real ale and the Guildford has a regularly changing roster of around 10 local ales. In common with most Edinburgh pubs, they also have a good range of whiskies to tempt you as well. Food is good and reasonably priced for Edinburgh. Staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a TV for sport but it is never intrusive and priority is given over to atmosphere. All in all, a great place to spend a few hours and one of my favourite watering holes when visiting.
Great range of real ales. Convivial atmosphere. Too late to try food, but the menu looked OK and the restaurant was packed.
Another return to this pub, my friends usually chose this place to meet up. Always good beers, ales and ciders, both bottled and drafts.
Service is prompt and knowledgeable. Gets noisy when busy, but so are most central pubs in Edinburgh.
There was a young girl constantly telling us to move out the way while we were standing at the end of the bar. Now I understand the serving hatch you need to keep clear but when the bar is busy there is nothing we could do. Another barman also approached our group and told an individual to not laugh as loud and be quite. The beers and food are great but the staff could do with getting some manners. Absolutely out of order.
Visited this pub this week £12.00 for 2 drinks and the pinot grigio was like vinegar. Disappointed to say the least for what was once a great pub!!
