About Haggis Adventures

Legendary & Stunning Adventures of Scotland for backpackers and independent travelers.

Haggis Adventures Description

Back in 1993 a dynamic team of Scots established a backpacker travel company that broke the mould - fully guided trips that allowed intrepid young adventurers to discover Scotland with the best, most knowledgeable and sexiest Guides leading the way.

We have always stuck stubbornly to our mission – to make every trip we run the best yet. We believe that a country's culture, history, myths and legends can only truly come to life through a local and that you can have an incredible time travelling on a budget. Therefore choice is at the heart of what we do. It's your trip so we don't package or impose restrictive kitties.

We also have a book and go guarantee and mean just that. We have never cancelled a single trip. You have made the effort to come and explore our country so the least we can do is show you around!

HAGGiS has built its reputation through word of mouth recommendation and having started with just one trip we now run a whole range of award-winning adventures throughout Scotland.

Are you in Edinburgh tonight? If so, make sure you don't miss one of the biggest fireworks concerts in the world! Plenty of spots around Edinburgh with magnificent views 🎆

Loving this shot from the Kilt Rock by our passenger Amy. It looks all calm and serene now, but on a windy day, the water can be blown away so that it doesn't reach the bottom at all!

We’ve been taking a tours every year for the past 15 years, but we have never had so much fun as on this Highland Explorer Tour. Me and my wife took 5 day Tours to Highlands including Skye in last week of July 2018.

The tour guide, Caitlin, was the best guide we have ever seen. If it wasn’t for her, this tour could have been just like any other tour.

We’ve seen a lot during 5 days. From old cities to remote coastline locations. Caitlin was always informative and she knew every detail of Scottish history pertinent to our present location. She knew how to present information in interesting way and she’s always had some music to compliment her story.

Because of her, the entire bus of tourists had a blast during entire trip.

We loved the way the entire tour was organized. We were able to choose between local hotels or B&B locations for each night stay. They were always walking distance from the center of each town. The tour guide were always informing us of best local places to eat or shop.

I’m glad I did not have to drive during this trip because there are lots of small roads with lots of turns in Scotland. The driving skills of both our drivers were amazing.

This Highlands Tour will always be our the best tour ever. I say that because Scotland is a beautiful and magical place. Me and my wife were so happy to chose Highland Explorer as our tour company for our vacation.

They have the best Tour guide on the planet Caitlin. If you ever book a tour with that company as for her.

She is an extraordinary person that is well organized, patriotic, great story teller, smart and funny and amazing driver.

I hope you will enjoy Scotland as much as we did.

User

Went on the outlander tour today with Caitlin who was terrific. Having seen outlander and completing a Bonnie Prince Charlie course with future learn I had a good idea of the period but learnt so much more, she is a fountain of knowledge. The day was a hot one and the views amazing. Excellent tour and lots of great Scottish music inbetween the history talks- Now I want to come back and do another one 💕 thank you Caitlin & haggis team.

User

Took the 2017 Christmas 3-day tour. Duncan (guide) and Joe (driver) are intelligent and hardy men who hold a wealth of historical information about Scotland. They drove the bus safely with no incidents. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the Highlands and the Culloden Battlefield visits. Joe gave us a hands on-feeding of carrots to red deer. They are the fourth largest deer in the world - moose, elk and Indian sambar deer ranking largest of the family. Red deer remind me of elk as they have a cream patch on their rump. Thank you Haggis personnel for creating a fun and exciting travel in your beautiful country. I hope to return.

User

This tour was AMAZING! I just completed the 3 day trip in the highlands and to start off my tour guide Caitlin made the whole trip. She told the best stories and made us laugh and enjoy the entire experience! She was so passionate about Scotland’s history and their magical stories I had no idea about most of it and had she not told the stories so passionately Scotland wouldn’t have seemed nearly as magical. Even when she was frustrated with our group running late she made it so enjoyable and exceeded all my expectations! It was such a good time I just wish I could have stayed longer! I met some of the best people from all over the world and I would gladly do it again but this time I’d plan more time to explore the highlands! In 3 days you see so much and it’s a great amount of time especially if you aren’t in Scotland very long, but now I know where I want to go again! thank you so much for this experience!

User

Spent 10 days travelling around the beautiful Scotland a couple weeks ago and I’m still so amazed with the country. Beautiful scenery, amazing history and tales, fun activities and people .. all with 2 awesome guides - Lee and Duncan. Good job guys, I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat

User

Perfect day for a wonderful adventure! Kirsty and Rich were brilliant. I would recommend taking advantage of their knowledge and driving skills!

User

Last week I did the Highland Fling tour with Rich! The tour was amazing, we got to see so many beautiful sights but it's the people that really make the trip great and Rich was a fabulous guide, he kept us all entertained and was good at getting us all to break the ice & socialise.

Having Scottish guides is a bonus as they have so much knowledge not only of the sights but Scottish culture in general and can tell you little things you otherwise wouldn't know + that great sense of humour. Morag's Lodge deserves a shout out too for its great hospitality! The staff there are fabulous and funny!

All in all it was an awesome tour, stunning sights + an entertaining guide who can tell you some 'Rich' entertaining stories hence why I think his name is Rich.

Book with Haggis, get Rich as your guide if you can and make some awesome memories! :)

Just have to post a 5* review for the recent trip I took with Haggis Adventures. It I could give it 10 stars I would!!! The 5 day Highland Fling was sensational! It seems to have some life changing impact on our group of 21. We were were a mixed bag of nationalities, ages, couples, and a mum & her two fabulous teenage children and lots of independent travellers. When we rocked up to our hostels, other groups asked if we’d known each other prior to the trip as we all got on so well and got stuck in to whatever was on. I think that was all down to Caitlin, our guide/ driver who asked us all to ‘speed-date’ on the bus the first morning! I think we were all quite apprehensive about that but it was the best thing she did for us and it broke the ice quickly and we were off for 5 days of sheer joy! There were tears all round before we left. It’s hard to put into words what we all felt but I thought it was a superb trip and I would really recommend Haggis and in particular Caitlin, a true bonnie lass with tons of knowledge of Scotland’s history, great access (got us last min tickets to the ‘Harry Potter’ train even thought it had sold out) and superb knowledge of lots of little hidey-holes and fab spots to stop and take pics or meet the locals! Loved it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! xxx

Just finished the Loch ness day tour and it was incredible! I cannot recommend them enough if you're looking for a beautiful day out surrounded by Scottish history and some excellent scenery. Lee (tour guide/driver) was extremely friendly and was a lot of fun to have onboard, he really understood what it was we wanted to take away from this trip and provided an easy to follow tour with enthusiasm and a bit of comedy. Cannot recommend them enough!

User

It's only been 2 weeks since my husband and I finished our 5 day Highland Fling adventure in Scotland and I am still still thinking back on it fondly as we continue our overseas trip through Europe. I fell in love with Scotland and I actually miss it! I want to thank Haggis Adventures and especially our lovely tour guide Caitlin who made our trip so wonderful. Caitlin's knowledge and passion for Scotland was inspiring and she was able to teach us so much and show us some really incredible and beautiful places. We will forever treasure this experience of Scotland and I dare say, we will be back one day!

I recently went on the 5 day Hebridean Hopper and I am unable to put into words how amazing this tour was. Duncan, our tour guide and driver was incredible and quickly became a good friend. His stories really added to our time exploring Scotland, as did his many jokes. He really went out of his way to provide us an incredible experience in Scotland and that is something I will forever remember. As a solo traveler I think a tour through Haggis Adventures is the way to go, I got to see places in Scotland that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to get to on my own. I have made some incredible friends and countless memories in the 5 days I was on the tour. Thank you Haggis Adventures and a huge thank you to Duncan for this unforgettable time in Scotland!

User

Holy Moley, where to start!?

Going into the 5 Day Hebridean Hopper with absolutely no expectations I very quickly realised that it was going to be an epic trip. With our fearless leader, driver, guide and friend "Duncan" at the wheel, we embarked on what became one of the most unbelievable and magical experiences of my life. Everything from the places we visited to the stories we got told were all amazing! I believe that if you visit Scotland, you must do a Haggis tour. As a young traveller it was very easy to get on the bus and have absolutely no stress or worries. Duncan was a true leader and passionate Scotsman. He presently the country in the most unforgettable way. Going the extra mile for everyone on the bus and classic banter was right on point. I've heard amazing things about all driver/guides at Haggis Adventures and Duncan definitely made the journey what it was. Thank you Haggis Adventures for this brilliant tour. And a huge, massive thank you to Duncan for being the best guide we could have ever asked for. Ending the tour as not our guide but our new best friend. Had an absolute blast and I will 100% be back to do the 7 day tour. Much love! Xxx

P.S "Shut up Meg".

Hands down, the best 3 days I had in Scotland Right from day 1 Kirstie and Joe were welcoming, friendly and entertaining us with Scottish history and music. I did the 3 day Isle of Skye tour and it was organised it pretty neat(right from the accommodation to the stop overs )

Rock on team Haggis, I will definitely come back and do a tour again. To Joe and Kirstie, you both are just fabulous and great hosts. Cheers

P.s not to forget the travel buddies I made on the bus :)

Haggis: a meal that one has to try to really appreciate all it's complex and delicious flavor.

Adventure: a wild and exciting undertaking.

Haggis Adventures truly delivers a wild and exciting time while appreciating the beautiful Scottish countryside, storied history, and friendly locals - all which should be experienced firsthand to understand what Scotland is all about.

Leading this adventure on our 10-day (do the 10 day, you won't regret it!) Compass Buster tour were Duncan and Rich. Both were entertaining, knowledgeable, excellent bus-DJs, and in-tune with the soul of Scotland - we even learned a bit of Gaelic along the way. This is not just a job for them, but a passion. They recommended places to go in each place we stayed and often joined us.

Haggis Tours are targeted towards the 20-35 age group, but anyone young of heart will have a great time. We never drove for more than an hour or two before getting off the bus and seeing a site or attraction while being accompanied by Duncan or Rich (they showed us things and told us stories that we would never have known about just reading the information signs). The tour demographic allowed us to walk farther to see it all and fit more in a day - never did we feel rushed and we were able to see much more than a regular tour would have. Sites included historical battlefields, seaside and mountain hiking trails, castles, beaches, and ancient structures and tombs.

Tour sizes of ~20 people from all over the world allowed for an intimate experience with folks who became our friends by the end of the trip.

So book a tour and see the land of Scotland firsthand. Thanks Duncan and Rich for the best vacation/holiday we've had!

Amazing weekend away exploring the highlands. Very active 3 days. Absolutely loved the walks we went on. Jim and Calum are awesome.

A great way to see lots in a short space (I did the 5 Day Highland Fling) of time

Lee was the best! Plenty of historical, random & just plain old made up stories, certainly made for an interesting trip!

Heaps of tips on the best places & foods to try at every stop we made - including the final one, back in Edinburgh

Will be making friends for decades with song

Somehow managed to turn the sunshine on for most of the trip too

Great job, Lee, I'll definitely be recommending it!
