Curriculum

Curriculum for Excellence at Happitots Bishopbriggs

Here at Happitots Nursery we follow the Curriculum for Excellence (CFE) placing focus on the value of learners’ experiences and how the role of the teacher or child care worker is so important in generating inspiring, challenging and motivating learning and teaching opportunities for the children in our care.

Through CFE we are ensuring that all children and young people are achieving their full potential. In order to do this our staff plan the children’s activities around what the children are interested in. In our pre-school rooms we have a variety of different methods of consulting with our children on what they want to learn. Some examples of this are mind mapping and children’s meetings where staff sit with the children and openly talk and discuss what they want to learn about. From these discussions staff plan activities to further children’s learning.

The CFE is split into 4 Capacities which are:

§ Successful Learners
§ Confident Individuals
§ Effective Contributors
§ Responsible Citizens

Staff provide activities for children which have breadth and depth and enhance their knowledge. Not only will the activities provided look at the 4 Capacities they will also look at the 3 Core areas for learning in the CFE. The core areas for learning are:

§ Literacy
§ Numeracy
§ Health & Wellbeing

Each activity planned by our staff will cross over into these 3 areas of learning.

Enabling all learners to maximise their potential is a key aspect of our role as child care practitioners at Happitots Nursery. Children learn when they are playing and having fun!

Hi Everyone
If your child is born between 1 March 2015 and 28 February 2016 they will be due to start school in August 2020.
If you live in the Glasgow City boundary you must register your child for P1 at one of your catchment schools. The online application is open now but must be done no late the Friday 8th November 2019. . I have put a link at the bottom of this email for the online application and also the page also has a link to check what your catchment school is just ...incase anyone is uncertain.
EDC schools enrolment week is not until Jan and I will email again when this opens with the link.
If your catchment school is in GCC but you would like a placement request in an EDC school or any other council school you must still register in your catchment school.
If you are thinking about deferring your child until the following year please let me know so we can apply for funding for the extra year etc.
If anyone has any questions please let me know.
Thanks Jodi

Hi Everyone Just a reminder that Kids Klub will be in the nursery most of the day tomorrow and Thursday. Kids Klub have been coming to the nursery every year for many years. It is an interactive DVD of your child. The preview DVDs for each child go home with them that evening and Parents or carers can watch these at home as many times as they like - they can then decide if they want to purchase the final DVD or not - there is no obligation to buy. If you would not like your ...child to have this done please let me know otherwise we will allow all children to take part if they are happy to do so. If these are not days your children normally attends please feel free to bring them along however I would suggested phoning us in the morning with a rough time to ensure they are still there and not left for the day or on lunch etc.
Please don't dress your child in blue or bright purple as this blends with the background screen.
Please let me know if you would like any further information.
Thanks Jodi
