Hope everyone enjoyed the ploughing demonstration yesterday despite the bitterly cold weather. If anyone took any photos, please feel free to share them on our page (y)

Thankfully we finished the cereal harvest yesterday:

Underway with potato planting for the 2018 season. Making the most of the weather and ground conditions while the forecast appears favorable. Think we need to try a bit of T-Cut on the trusty MXU135 as it's going a bit pink now...

From everyone at H.D. Paul & Sons, we wish you all a safe, happy and prosperous 2018! Enjoy!

Photo slideshow from various detail levels and level spectrums on how we're utilising UAVs (drones) to monitor crop progress and condition. Admittedly the technology is still in it's infancy with us, but it's certainly an asset thats welcomed by the seasoned tattie roguers. Whilst we don't see this as a replacement for that tried and tested method, if we can pinpoint potential problem sites in a crop early, utilising GeoTagging, move manpower to that specific location quickly, then it can only be a good thing in the interests of producing premium seed potato crops. We hope to give more in depth analysis once we, ourselves, get up to speed on the hardware/software capabilities.

Thank you to iSight Systems Ltd who recently installed an HD security camera system at Munlochy Mains. David offered a very prompt and competitive service as well as expert installation. We've been fortunate enough not to need a security system to date, but, with increasingly valuable assets on site, small and large, we wanted to have the option to observe any visitors coming onto the premises night or day. David operates out of Inverness and we'd recommend him to our fellow businesses in the area.

Short video we shot last Saturday at Balnaguie Farm of Michael ploughing one of the tattie fields for this year.

A short two minute video of us finishing the one outstanding field of (slightly flat) Oats from this years cereal harvest. We're getting the hang of this drone malarky!

Some drone footage of us working out at Culloden Moor on rented ground from Leanach Farm, enjoy:

We've had this photo sent to us by one of our followers. We're not entirely sure where it was taken but we suspect it's either down at Munlochy Bay (next to the steading) or over near Balblair. Credit to Megan Mccrystal Photography.

Photos from yesterday at the Black Isle Farmers Society ploughing match in two of our fields at Ryefield, Tore. We were very fortunate with the weather giving us fresh, dry conditions. Thanks to all who attended!

Harvest 2015 finished! After a poor summer of weather we've been very fortunate with September & October to be able to get a fairly consistent run at the cereal and potato crops. Estimated the cereal crops were 3-4 weeks behind last years but the potatoes haven't been affected greatly with the cool summer. Good yields but poor markets currently. Now for a few days off and then gear up for getting the ground ready for next years!

A few snaps from this past weeks efforts with the cereal harvest. We've still a bit to do but, overall, happy with progress. Not overly confident that the weather will deal us another good hand though.
