This short film explains the process and welcomes you to the world of Heathergems....
Heathergems are handcrafted from the stems of Scottish heather in a process developed over the last 50 years. Nowhere else in the world will you find this range of jewellery and gifts being produced.
Due to the nature of the process no two Heathergems are the same making it a very individual, personal gift.
... The process itself dates back to just after the 2nd World War when wood was rationed and could no longer be used for flooring. Four craftsmen set up a workshop on the banks of Loch Lomond and collected branches of beech wood, compressing them together to make floor tiles. This technique proved too expensive so one of the craftsmen developed the process using heather stems and fashioning them into jewellery. A company was established in 1970 and is run today as a family business.

This year we are Singin' in the Rain at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre for their annual Christmas show. Playing until 23rd of December, come and have a wander in town during the day and a sing along in the evening! ❄️

Went to Heathergems while visiting Pitlochry. Amazing place! So nice to see natural resources repurposed and turned into absolutely beautiful jewelry. Bought quite a few pieces and it seemed as though each one was progressively more beautiful. I definitely recommend the journey to Heathergems to see their inventory and to get some of the most exquisite and beautiful pieces of jewelry.

The service is second to none , the jewellery is stunningly beautiful, so unusual, beautifully crafted, makes you feel special when you wear it. Thank you so much to Lorna at head office in Irvine who went above and beyond the call of duty to find me a replacement for a lost earring from a pair I had bought in memory of my dad. I was so impressed with all she did to make sure I was able to replace it. 5 stars for amazing customer service. I purchased a heather gems necklace while on a trip to Aberdeen. When I returned to the US the chain came apart. I contacted the company and emailed a picture of the chain. The response was immediate and I had a new chain delivered to my house within a week! Love the pendant and the service!

Nice place to watch the workers making the jewellery. Large selection of pieces to buy beautifully made just not my taste but do appreciate the time and effort that has gone into every bit and fascinating to see how the stones are made

I purchased a pair of Heathergem studs whilst on holiday in Durness from the visitor centre shop. I was really excited about them as I thought they were really unique and something I'd never seen before. I got them home and wore them a few times and always kept them in the box when I wasn't wearing them. When I came to put them on one morning as I picked one up the gem fell out of the silver earring without any sort of force. So of course I was quite annoyed by that but managed to fix it back in with some jewellery glue. However, I was so paranoid about it falling out again while I was wearing it that I left them in the box for a good few weeks. When I eventually went to wear them the same thing happened again with the other earring. By this point im very disappointed with the quality and am unsure what to do with them as I bought them so long ago and they were quite expensive so im very unimpressed. Im not sure if the ones I bought were just poor quality as all the reviews ive read have been positive but I thought I should just let people know for future. Very sad I cant leave a great review as I think the concept of the product is brilliant, very unique, sadly just not a great experience for me.
