Went here with my son for his 13th birthday and with my other son and wife. We were tended immediately were seated at out table left to settle in and then drinks ordered which arrived quickly food was ordered and arrived quickly also.... the service was absolutely awesome and the food was brilliant... when I asked my son's what they thought they both said they felt at home

User

Stayed over for one night.. excellent clean and modern hotel. Enjoyed our evening meal at the Hghland Gate and our breakfast was very good. Cannot fault the service which was very prompt. Used to stay at the holiday inn at Stirling but will stay here in future. Well recommended.

User

User

Amazing place. Jerk chicken recommend to anyone and the fire fries are out of this world decently price and deals. A place to go!

User

3rd time eating at the highland gate. And i must say great staff service, friendly, kind and helpful. Must try their sticky pudding next time.

User

Visited last night my family arranged this for my birthday and can only say that staff were efficient and very helpful we had a party of fifteen including one child who has autism and can be quite challenging at times but the young girl who served us was brilliant with her and seemed to keep everything calm service was good and the food was good so will definitely return in the future thanks again to all the staff

User

Had a great meal. We were in a group of 8 for a birthday tea. Served straight away. Myself and the wife had the scampi and to be honest must be bad if they muck that one up. Proper scampi tails and a very large portion. I cannot comment on the starters as no one had one. Burgers are excellent and the chicken nachos looked good although we did ask for one plain but came covered in piri piri sauce which was way too hot for the guest. Service was good. Although no designated waiting staff all staff members dealt with our service. I have not used the Highland Gate since last summer and to be honest you are so spoilt for choice at very reasonable prices We will be back.

User

Great location - Great layout & Decor - Friendly staff - well priced - Food lacked taste - Currie sauce tasted as if it came out of a jar - my shredded pork bland - skinned potatoes - came as chips - will go back but will try something else

User

Went today the service was slow and the chicken strips were over cooked so the coating was hard. I had the buttermilk chicken burger and tit was dry. No one came to ask if we wanted a dessert or anything else. So we left without having pudding.

User

Our food came within 4 minutes of ordering and I thought what excellent service, but unfortunately the food was lukewarm. About 15 minutes later another waitress appeared with the same order and I can only assume there was a mix up and somebody had to wait a long time for their dinner. I overheard the table next to us complaining about cold food as well. We stopped in on a journey from North to south and we're hungry so we ate it and did not complain. But we do feel sorry for any regulars they may have, although I think most of their customers are travellers in transit like us. I'm afraid I would not recommend it..

User

This place used to be good, but has went down hill

The waiter kept puting his hand on my shoulder, i hate that, people should not be touched in a restaurant by staff. He did this with other people too. Kids Cheese and Tomato Pizza pie was full of carrots and peppers. When asked about this the response was "oh we just buy it in"

We also had to remind the waiter about the 20% off in january to which his reply was "what 20%" i mean come on. We eventually got the 20% off but i am still not 100% sure my bill was right.

The only had one server on so the food took ages to come out.

The best thing about it was the chef, he cooked my steak perfectly. We used to come in here often but i dont think we will be back

User

Really disappointed with our Christmas lunch today. Was looking forward to a festive vegan option as no where else in stirling seemed to offer this. Received a call in the morning that there were no vegan main courses and to select something from the regular menu. I asked for a burger as the last time I was in i was told that it was a quorn type burger. It wasn't. It was a really dry deep fried over cooked bean burger which was served in a dry bun which itself was double the size of the burger with over cooked chips. The starter was apparently supposed to be bruschetta but was in fact a bit of garlic bread with some chopped tomato and raw onion on it. The only saving grace was the pudding which is why this review has 2 stars and not one.

User

No sign of the booking when we got back there, and had to go find a waitress to order deserts! And they weren't busy poor show

User

Myself and Friend went down last Night .Place was Frozen .Due to Boiler being Broken Kitchen got Orders wrong .Ordered Desserts only to be told they were out of what we had ordered so had to choose again .used to love going here but we won't be back very Dissapointed

User

Arrived about 4:45pm and told we would have half an hour wait for our table. So we waited, letting our daughter play in the tiny play area. There we realised there were plenty of tables available so no idea why we were having to wait but we did. When our table ready beeper went off and we returned to the waiter, we were frog marched to a table back where we had been waiting that had been empty the entire time. We ordered drinks that took too long to arrive. The waiter then dropped a glass of beer as he was giving us our drinks which splashed over my toddler. They didn’t give us anything to wipe ourselves down with, we had to ask for it despite telling the waiter and waitress we had been splashed. We weren’t given a kids menu but thankfully had spotted one whilst we were waiting so ordered from that. Our food arrived but we had no cutlery on the table we waited half an hour for and had to ask for that too. Just a shambles from start to finish. Didn’t even get money off our bill as an apology for the horrendous service. Won’t be returning. Which is a shame because the food was actually very good.

User

Very poor service overcharged and some staff were very rude when the bill was questioned. Word of warning to ppl out there if in a large group check individual we had extra desserts and juices added on to the bill.

Shame my meal was great has the potential to be a excellent restaurant

User

Unfortunately even 1 star is too much...we stayed at the Marston's Inn next door for 2 nights and went to the Highland Gate restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is fine but next time we'll definitely book it without breakfast and will go to another restaurant for dinner. The service is very poor (seems to be untrained staff only) and the quality of the food is also not satisfying. And there was always something missing when the food was delivered: the sauces, the side salad, the salad dressing etc...that was really annoying. And you can't rely on their menu. Lots of things which were listed in the menu were not available for two days. For example different sorts of single malts or beers. And when we ordered pancakes with maple syrup and bananas for breakfast we were told that it can only be done without maple syrup and bananas as they simply don't have any of it. That's really a shame. And don't order herbal tea for breakfast...it costs an extra fee. That's unacceptable.
