Hillgigs Description
Who says the sticks is a cultural backwater? With HillGigs we bring brilliant musicians to the small rural Stirlingshire village of Thornhill.
For house concerts, we put the hat round and people give what they can as a donation: best to be paper money as artists need to eat too. Just think how much a trip to a gig in Glasgow or Edinburgh or even Stirling would cost - not everyone can afford a tenner, but the more tenners the better.
We can accommodate about 30 in the house. Anybody is welcome - just let Charlie know by phone or via the HillGigs Facebook page. Folks bring their own drink and we do the snacks.
Performers! ! We can feed you if you want to join us beforehand.

Here’s a great gig in Thornhill in Star Wars Day (May the Fourth...). A vibrant night is promised.
Thanks to Danny Flynn for letting us know about Hannah Aldridge's next show at Stirling's Tollbooth. "Sassy, sexy and soulful" - she puts on a great show. It's great that the Tollbooth is bringing her back to Stirling.
Final call for tonight’s HillGig with the wonderful Ivan Drever. https://www.facebook.com/events/336203923 658486/ We’re in the kirk hall in Thornhill for this one, so there is plenty of room. Just let me know you’re coming, bring a donation for the singer (tenner seems fair), bring a friend or two and bring a bevvy, soft or hard. Here’s the man himself singing and playing guitar:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM BGGwJAS5E
Folks have been asking about HillGigs' plans. Well, we're taking a break for the rest of 2018. The brilliant news is that we start 2019 with Ivan Drever on Saturday 9th March. Ivan is an Orcadian musician of note, for a time part of the wonderful Wolfstone that gave the 90s a proper Celtic bang, and an immensely talented writer, guitarist and singer. We're delighted to have him over from his home in Norway as part of a skoot aboot in Scotland. I reckon by March next year, the music will have been drained out your veins - here's the man to fill them up for you. Check him out on http://www.ivandrever.co.uk and Youtube. In the meantime, here's a taste of what you'll get in March: the soul-filled instrumental tune Roses of St. Magnus.
Check this out!!!
Great news for all us Jinky fans!
Tune in for brilliant music and groovy patter!

This mob might be HillGiggers at some point once we get going again. In the meantime, get your spats on and head to Howlin Wolf in September
Morning all! A great chance to see the original Moira Monologues in a living room in Thornhill. Alan Bissett’s classic! Get in touch with me to book a place. You’d better hurry as we’ve only a few places left.
After our next HillGig on Saturday 5th of May, we're taking a break for a while. It'll be this time next year before the next one. Too many other things on for the moment. So, for all you old HillGigs faithfuls, get in touch as soon as you can to guarantee your place. No last minute wonders this time I think, as places are going like feckin hotcakes!
The Linda Jaxson Trio lit HillGigs up brilliantly last night.
Now the snow is going, you can all think about the HillGig next Saturday, 10 March. The Linda Jaxson Trio - so many good things to say, but you have to be there to hear them. Seven spaces left, so hurry, hurry, hurry! It is, as they say in these parts, goney be a belter!
Five weeks today this wonderful singer will grace HillGigs. Linda Jaxson in fine voice with her full band at Glasgow's Ferry. The acoustic trio will be just as fulsome. Saturday 10th March.
