Thank you Chalkbloc and Ella Russell for the amazing HoldBreaker X climbing Sports bra review, especially for highlighting the fit and comfort, mentioning that you don't even notice the bra whilst climbing, which is pretty high praise indeed, don't you think?

An older female climber who grew up in a remote mountain village was visiting her children in the city for the first time. The first day the old woman heard a sound that stung her ears. She had never heard such an awful noise. Following the grating sound back to its source, she saw a boy through an open window practising on a violin. “Screech! Scrape! Came the discordant notes from the groaning violin. The old woman never wanted to hear such a horrible thing again. . Next day..., the old woman heard another sound that caressed her ears, an enchanting melody. Following the sound back to its source, she saw ‘a maestro’, performing a sonata on a violin. The old woman realised her mistake, the terrible sound that she had heard the previous day was not the fault of the violin, nor even of the boy. It was just that the young man had yet to learn how to play the instrument. The old woman thought it was the same with climbing. When we come across a novice climber behaving inappropriately, it’s incorrect to blame climbing or the climbing community. It is just that the novice climber has yet to learn how to climb. When we come across a skilled climber, a maestro of climbing, its such as sweet encounter that it inspires us, whatever the discipline of climbing. The third day, the old woman heard another sound that surprised her in its beauty and purity even that of the maestro on the violin. It was the sound more beautiful than the cascades of the mountain stream in the spring or than the mountain birds singing after a heavy rain. The sound that moved the old woman’s heart so powerfully was a large orchestra playing a symphony. The reason it was the most beautiful sound in the world for the old woman, was firstly that every member of that orchestra was a maestro of their own instrument; and secondly, that they had learned how to play together in harmony. ‘May it be the same with climbing’, the old woman thought. ‘Let each of us learn through the lessons of life. Let us each be a climbing maestro. Then when we can climb well, let us go further and learn how to play, like members of an orchestra, with other climbers in harmony together. That would be the most beautiful sound.

We all have a desire to climb more, to become a better climber, to have the best training routines and get the most out of our training schedules. The “kick” we get when we see progress and send our projects, when we see small gains and improvements. When we are notably stronger and are able to hold on to holds that spat us off previously. Progress does equal happiness.
Keep climbing.

"Women are often expected to look a certain way, and as athletes we don't always meet that expectation. We sometimes feel the pressure to change to fit the mould or avoid standing out. When I first started climbing I almost quit because I thought my shoulders were getting too big! Jokes about broad shoulders and shirts not fitting properly aside, I'm proud of what my body lets me achieve - I'm learning to embrace how I look because that's just what my body looks like when I'm... healthy and strong." . There are many female role models in climbing that we can turn to for inspiration and motivation. Many women who are climbing hard, who are breaking records and at the same time pushing the whole climbing community's perception of what our so called limits are as a female climber. These images of female climbers are in almost most cases portrayed in a masculine strong way for people to relate to. I like to remind you that strength has many faces and come in many forms. I'd li...ke to acknowledge @minaclimbing for being incredibly brave and strong for her very recent article about being diagnosed with RED-s. It's a very insightful and honest article which highlights a very serious topic. I'll end this post with Mina's words "Please read, share and look after your bodies".

Women’s RouteSetting Clinics!!!
We are super psyched to support the Women’s RouteSetting Clinics held by @foxmanjames. Foxman’s life is dedicated to climbing and not only is she the only full-time female setter @brooklynboulders but she’s also a youth team coach! If you are interested in setting and don't feel confident to ask your gym’s head setter for an opportunity – then this clinic is for you. Foxman will introduce the fundamentals with the goal of helping you feel bette...r prepared if you decide to pursue route setting in the future.
She will be traveling to Houston to @momentumclimbingtexas and @inspirerocktx to teach routesetting clinics for women before travelling back to Boston to teach another clinic at The Phoenix @riserecoverlive for @ladiesclimbingcoalition. If you’re interested check out @foxmanjames’s Instagram feed or even better – send her a DM!!

Good morning. When is your favourite time to climb? We are often dictated by weather conditions but we all have a favourite time of the day when we get to climb, when everything comes together without much force. Mine is in the early mornings, when its silent, when it feels like the rest of the world is sleeping, the air is electric and getting into the zone feels effortless. LOVE IT!

Ambassador Spotlight - Danny Allon:
Danny Allon has been with HoldBreaker for a while and his love, passion and enthusiams for climbing is infectious. He is always psyched when he talks about Font, you’ve probably gathered is a boulder, climbing coach and setter.
If Danny can't climb outside, you'll find him on his home board or down at his local gym making up his own problems. “Twanging” the elastic in his shorts before he goes for the send is one of his little quirks.
... What do you do to psych yourself up before getting on a hard climb?

Sport Climber Trick Series #8 - Cruxy Route Cleaning
Cleaning the lower quickdraws after leading can be tricky if the route is very overhung or wanders a lot to one side. If this is the case cleaning the first draw can become dangerous - if you just pop it out you may unintentionally add a heap more rope into the system bringing you close to hitting the ground. Here's a work around to avoid a potential decking situation.
Attach yourself directly to the second bolt (you might... need to use a long or extended quickdraw here). Get your belayer to give you slack. Reach down and clean the first bolt. You may need to invert yourself a little to reach. Free the rope from the second draw too and get your belayer to take you up tight.
Make sure you assess the swing you're going to take before you let go. If you're not sure if you're high enough at the second bolt you can always climb back up a little to be safe. In this example the route cut way left and the swing was a big pendulum, if you're on an overhung route you might just swing out into the air.
If you're not confident with the technique you can always leave the draws on and climb it again on top rope cleaning as you go.
Always climb safe and be safe.

Really good answers from Ben Silvestre, we particularly liked the section where he talks about his climbing journey and the different phases he has gone through to where he is now. Definitely worth a read if you have a spare 5-10mins to read 👊 .

For when you feel like; I can’t be bothered today and I don’t want to do anything. We all have days when we just don’t feel like getting out of bed, going to work, go climbing or even working at it. The best thing to do on days when we’re feeling like this – is actually to DO IT Anyway! . Things have a tendency to work out and when we eventually get where we need to be, our moods/feelings change. We make progress on our projects, meet up with climbing mates or have a real goo...d session that gets us energised. Don’t give in to the fleeing moment of feeling down in the morning, things can change in a moment. Just decide to get up and get out. . . 📸: @victureproduction . .
