Our world first 'John Bull Pourover' is my Lancashire interpretation of a Canadian 'poutine' ... without the cheese, although we can add that if you fancy - just ask!
It's our John Bull mix, in our special chippy gravy poured over a portion of chips ... and topped if you like with freshly prepared batter scraps! It's a hearty meal ... and we sell loads!... I'll post a pic separately so you can better appreciate it

A local favourite for generations. In Blackburn we call them 'dabs'! I remember climbing over the fence at St Mary's College 'playground' to go to the Four Lanes Ends chippy to get a dab butty far too often. The shop was always packed with schoolboys who had probably sold their school 'dinner token' and used the money to buy one or two of these .... and kept a nice profit to boot!! I doubt my Mum suspected, but my Dad must have known as, alongside other teachers at the Colle...ge, he was regularly deployed by the Head to clear the chippy of students and get them back to school .... probably with no lunch to be had as we'd sold our dinner tokens!!¤ś▓
On the upside - if you got one, is was pure bliss!! Plenty of salt and vinegar, mind!
You should get one - or two . I promise that you'll not be chased out hungry like we so often were!! ¤śĆ
Also of note - dabs are probably our most popular 'sin food' sneakily purchased by naughty customers who scurry to the corner to nosh it while waiting for the main order to be be prepared. Yes, naughty but nice. They always seem to be smiling and looking very satisfied with their mischievous sin food lol
Apologies if you're a foreigner from Bolton, Wigan, Bury or wherever ... I know to you a dab is a fish! But to us, so is a scallop lol

service is top notch,staff are friendly girls and the owners are FAB ,glad we can call them ours friends,and Mike knocks out the best fish for miles around(i'm not really a fish fan myself)but my other half loves it and we know plenty of people that say the same ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į
Traveled over from Bolton after being recommended to us and have to say it is the best by far. Pity there isn't one in Bolton

There are so many good things on the menu it's hard to choose what to have, even the choice of fish is hard sometimes!

Just had the best chippy tea we have had in years, myself my daughter and grandchildren all enjoyed a lovely meal, not been before but we will be going again, the fish was especially good .

I Decided to try this chippy tonight for the first time, as my local chippy, in Bolton is currently closed for a few weeks. Wasn't disappointed.
The food was just amazing really tasty fish in crispy batter, even after a half hour drive back home. The chips that are both chunky and full of flavour. The awards it's achieved are well deserved and will be visiting a lot more in the future.

I once said that if I ever found somewhere that sold a decent gluten free battered sausage, I would explode with joy. I've not quite exploded with joy yet, but I am always fit to burst after my gluten free chippy tea treat once a month! Great service, everything set up brilliantly to prevent cross-contamination, and lovely, lovely people, Michael even remembered that it would be my birthday soon (I now have a reputation as the purple-haired battered sausage girl...)
Highly recommended! Now who's coming for a birthday chippy tea with me next month?!
