HQ Shellfish is ran by me, Tom, aboard my boat 'Dawn Raider'. I catch and sell Lobsters, Brown Crab and Mackerel, all from Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland, known to produce some of the best Shellfish in the world.

The West Coast of Scotland produces some of the finest shellfish in the world. The majority of this is shellfish is shipped abroad to countries like France and Spain. We at HQ Shellfish don't agree with all this great food being shipped abroad so we are pleased to be able to offer some of the finest local produce from the sea all caught sustainably and selectively by ourselves aboard the Kara-Louise. At the moment we are offering prime live Scottish lobster and live brown crab. We will deliver from the sea directly to your door on the day of your choosing, it doesn't get any fresher than that! PRICES - All our prices are for LIVE lobster and crab. All of our shellfish are above the minimum size set by the fishing authorities. We have sized our lobsters into three categories:

LOBSTER
Size 1 small /medium - £10
Size 2 medium /large - £15
Size 3 XL £POA

BROWN CRAB - The size of brown crab varies however all crab we sell is of the highest standard.

DELIVERY

All of our shellfish will come with cooking instructions and some recipe ideas.
Delivery within the three towns area is completely free. POA for further afield.

OUR ECO-FRIENDLY APPROACH

All of our shellfish are caught using creels /pots. Creels are baited traps that sit on the sea bed. Lobsters and crab climb into the traps then cant get back out. The creels we use cause no damage to the sea bed and allow us to selectively fish, which means that only our target species are taken for your dinner - we have absolutely NO 'by-catch' and any under-sized lobsters, crabs or other sea creatures that get caught in our creels are returned to the sea ALIVE and unharmed.

SUSTAINABILITY

In order to preserve natural lobster stocks and to preserve our industry we are very careful about what we take from the sea. All of our lobsters are ABOVE the minimum size set by the fishing authorities. This allows the lobsters to reach maturity and to have had the opportunity to reproduce. We also put back female lobsters that are carrying eggs, these are known as 'berried hens'. Berried hens are marked so that breeding female lobsters are put back, even if they aren't carrying eggs when we catch them! This helps to keep stocks healthy and maintain the natural balance of our seas.
