The practice had a fun filled practice day out. We did a scavanger hunt around the beautiful cotswolds. We had three teams and three very posh cars hired for the day. A BMW 4 series driven by Kerry, a Jaguar XE driven by Claire and a Mercedes e class driven by Neil. NEW TECHNOLOGY... Trios 3D scanner
We are using the new Trios 3D scanner to create 3D images of our patient's teeth. We can also use these scans to 3D print models of your teeth with our new 3D printer, meaning that for lots of procedures we no longer have to take the normal, mucky impressions!

Interdental cleaning using super floss
Interdental cleaning is the removal of plaque from between the teeth, which a normal toothbrush cannot reach. This is where a lot of dental disease starts. Super floss is mainly used around Bridge’s and Implant’s. Slide the stiff end of the floss into the space, Move the floss back and forth. Repeat above. Recommended use on a daily basis after tooth brushing.

Single tufted toothbrushing technique
Single tufted tooth brushing technique is the removal of plaque from the tooth surface and in between the teeth, when a normal toothbrush cannot reach. To use a single tufted toothbrush hold the brush to a 45 degree angle. Spread the bristles against the side of the tooth. Gently wiggle the brush below the gum level. When you first start using this technique you any experience some bleeding and soreness due to better access to inflamed g...ums. This is normal and should settle down after the first couple of times. Recommended use on a daily basis after tooth brushing.

Disclosing Tablets
Disclosing is a good way to identify plaque missed when brushing and interdental cleaning.
To use disclosing tablets, chew a tablet and wipe around your teeth with your tongue. Rinse with water and spit out the excess solution. Look into a mirror, old plaque will be stained blue and new plaque red. Brush your teeth thoroughly and use interdental cleaning aids to remove all staining.
... Recommended to use in the evenings, to avoid staining of the mouth throughout the day.

Tongue cleaning
Tongue cleaning removes plaque and food debris from the surface of the tongue, and helps refresh the breath.
To use a tongue cleaner, Extend your tongue, placed the curved part of the tongue cleaner as far back as comfortable. Press down with a firm forward stroke. Rinse the tongue cleaner under warm water and repeat as necessary.

To use Dental floss picks squeeze the handle to tension the floss, slide the floss between the teeth, release the squeeze to allow the floss to reach more tooth surface, curving around the tooth, slide just below the gum level, move upwards and repeat above. TePe Interdental cleaning
Interdental cleaning is the removal of plaque from between the teeth, which a normal toothbrush cannot reach. This is where a lot of dental disease starts due to plaque trapping. To use a TePe interdental brush, insert the brush into the space between the teeth at gum level, turning slightly. Once inserted, gently move the brush backwards and forwards to remove plaque debris.
