This week (4 - 8 Mar) is Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Week, Scotland’s annual celebration of the contribution made by Modern Apprentices. INEOS and Petroineos have a strong heritage of offering engineering Modern Apprenticeships with currently more than 60 in training and working towards their SVQs and HNCs in their chosen disciplines. Our apprenticeships provide hands-on experience in a large-scale manufacturing environment with partners, Forth Valley College, and support from our experienced employee-mentors and assessors.

INEOS Grangemouth is investing £350m in a new state of the art, energy efficient power plant at Grangemouth - a huge vote of confidence in Scottish manufacturing and INEOS' businesses in Scotland. The new plant is key to our continued development of the GM site. http://bit.ly/2T1vZ7u

Very informative visit yesterday to the 1851 Trust and home to INEOS Team UK, exploring the Trust’s education centre (Tech Deck) and discussing opportunities for collaborative work to promote #STEM at INEOS and at Grangemouth @INEOSTEAMUK

This week it was the turn of the older members of the 93rd Braes Scout Group to visit the Grangemouth site’s Exhibition Centre as we welcomed the Cubs and Scouts sections. A similar programme to the previous week enabled the young people to find out what a refinery and petrochemical plant does and how these products make a positive difference to their lives.

We were pleased to welcome the 93rd Braes Beaver Scout Colony to our exhibition centre. The children learned all about what we do at Grangemouth, what our products are made into and the fuels we make in our refinery. They were also treated to demonstrations (and got their hands on) some of the equipment our employees use in the refinery.

We were pleased to welcome to our laboratory, the second group of pupils from Grangemouth High School who are all following the “Skills for Work Laboratory” course at school. Our colleagues were on hand to demonstrate a wide range of analytical techniques used in a state of the art facility and answer all of their questions. https://www.ineos.com/sites/ineos-laborat ory/

It was great to see so many enthusiastic people last night at our Modern Apprentice open evening. The event provided a opportunity for them to learn about the vocational programme and to discover for themselves the opportunities that lie ahead for successful candidates. We hope you found the event an interesting and informative insight into the Modern Apprenticeship route to employment and the fantastic opportunities for careers in the petrochemical & refining industry. We look forward to receiving and reading your applications www.ineosopportunities.co.uk. Remember: applications must be received by 31 December

Pupils studying the ‘Skills for Work Laboratory’ course at Grangemouth High School had the opportunity to visit a unique facility in their very own town – the INEOS laboratory. One of the largest in Scotland, the lab undertakes a whole host of analytical tests for INEOS and third party customers. The visits have become a regular event in the Developing the Young Workforce annual programme, linking school and industry. It is in direct support of the course that the students are taking part in at their High School. https://www.ineos.com/sites/ineos-laborat ory/

As part of INEOS’ support of Falkirk Football’s ‘Kids GO For free’ initiative, the Club is hosting an INEOS Match Day in December for our employees. Manager Ray McKinnon, and players Tommy Robson and Ruben Samut visited the INEOS HQ building to present the match tickets. Alongside our support of ‘The Daily Mile’ and Go Run for Fun www.gorunforfun.com, we see this partnership with the football club as one element of INEOS’ wider commitment to encourage young people to become more active and to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
