Institute of Iranian Studies is a multidisciplinary research center dedicated to promoting Iranian Studies in the UK with contributors and programmes in Persian Language and Literature as well as Iranian Drama, Cinema and Music (School of Modern Languages) Iranian History, Culture, and Politics (School of History and School of Classics) and Iranian Art (School of Art History).

Play Reading Workshop and Writer in Residence Perspective Speaker/Playwright: Dr Naghmeh Samini Wednesday 20th February 4.15pm- 6.15 pm Venue: Quad 31 Four volunteers will be doing the play reading and Dr Samini will discuss the play which will be still in making at the time. She will also be speaking about her experience as a Writer in Residence in the School of Modern Languages and the potential directions the ending of the play may take.

Masters Level Funding (School of Modern Languages)
The School of Modern Languages at the University of St Andrews warmly invites applications from outstanding graduates wishing to pursue a one-year taught (MLitt) or research masters, MSt (Res) programme, in one or more departments of the School.
The MLitt Modern Languages degree is a one-year programme and is awarded after successful completion of both the taught element (120 credits) and a supervised research dissertation o...f 15,000 words (60 credits). The following pathways are offered:
Comparative Literature Cultural Identity Studies French Studies German and Comparative Literature German Studies Italian Studies Mediaeval Studies Middle Eastern Literary and Cultural Studies Russian Studies Spanish and Latin American Studies
The MSt (Res) in Modern Languages is a research-based Masters degree. You will engage in a full-time research project and write a supervised research dissertation of 30,000 words. It is an excellent opportunity to spend a shorter time in a research environment either for a standalone degree or as preparation for a PhD.

These awards (covering fees only, up to £8,500) have been made available by the generosity of Forum for Modern Language Studies, an academic journal owned by the University of St Andrews and published by Oxford University Press. Founded in 1965, the journal publishes articles on all aspects of literature, linguistics and culture, from the Middle Ages to the present day. It aims to reflect the essential pluralism of research in modern languages and to provide a forum for worldwide scholarly discussion. Home/EU and Overseas students are eligible for this award. Please note that no separate application is required for this scholarship. If you wish to be considered for a Forum Scholarship, the deadline for applications is Friday 11 May 2018, 12 noon.
