About Integrate Scotland

Integrate Scotland
building community : pursuing justice : taking action : transforming lives

Integrate Scotland Description

Integrate Scotland is an Aberdeen based charity working in association with City Church Aberdeen. We're passionate about supporting people in our community who have been disadvantaged or marginalised for any reason and we run a number of projects aimed at seeing them integrated with their community.

Caroline Crombie is the founder of Integrate Scotland and our senior Community Chaplain. She has a background in research psychology, has delivered alcohol and drug awareness programmes and has more than 19 years’ experience working in prisons, caring for the marginalised and for those with offending behaviour. Ross Sutherland is our Development Manager. He has a background in business operations and management and 1. 5 years’ experience volunteering in prisons.

Integrate Scotland was formalised in 2007, but operated in an unofficial capacity for a number of years prior. As a result, we have developed excellent working relationships with a number of other third sector organisations around the city working in areas such as employment and drugs and alcohol. We are also a community partner of HMP Grampian and work with the police, criminal justice social work department and Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations, Aberdeen’s third sector interface. Integrate is also a memeber of the executive steering committee for the Aberdeen Foodbank Partnership led by CFINE, which aims to collate statistics from independent foodbanks to give an overall picture of the size of the problem in Aberdeen for lobbying purposes and to ensure that we don't just meet the immediate need for those in food crisis situations, but develop relationships through which the root cause of crisis and the appropriate support for the individual can be identified.

Integrate provides a holistic service for its clients. In addition to the Restorative Justice Course and our Community Integration work, for example, we run weekly drop-ins with a view to building relationships and community and as a forum for supporting individuals practically with food, job searching /applications, CV writing and form filling. See our 'What we do' page to learn more about our projects.

Caroline Crombie heads up Social Transformation at City Church via Integrate Scotland.
