It is almost impossible to believe that it is 8 years since our little group clipped on pedometers for the first time and set off to walk round the world.
Since then we've walked in over 100 countries around the world and across every continent. We've spent Christmas at places as diverse as the the South Pole and the southernmost point of India.
Last week, we achieved something we never even dreamed of when we took our fist steps. We've walked 150,000 miles; the equivalent of... having walked 6 times round the world. We cannot believe it!
It has been an amazing journey. We've met so many nice people along the way who have helped, encouraged and supported us. We thank them all for keeping us going.
We plan to keep plodding on doing our bit to combat the worldwide pandemic of physical inactivity by showing that staying active is simple and fun.
Join us on worldwalking.org. We'd love to have your company as we try to get the World Walking.
We hope to bump into you along the road. Happy Walking.

Just had another lovely message from the 'Who'd a Thought it Walkers', a heart health exercise group from Quirindi in New South Wales, Australia, who have now completed 42% of their virtual walk to Scotland using World Walking to 'meet' us.
Here's their mascot - Jock McTavish.
Best Wishes to them.

7.5 years after setting off to walk the world using pedometers, the Inverclyde Globetrotters, for the 2nd time in the last 3 weeks, have added over 2 million steps to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow's Walk for Wellness. Simply the best! https://worldwalking.org/group/fwamh

Inverclyde Globetrotter Bridget, 84 years young, walking the world at Inverclyde Leisure's Waterfront Gym. An 'A1' MOT from her GP. A great advert for staying active. What a girl!

We've just added another 1.7 million steps to the worldwide Heart & Sole Challenge 2015 to promote cardiac rehabilitation. 98 people & services have joined the Heart & Sole Challenge group. Today the group reached Mexico City having walked 65 million steps on our quest to walk around the globe. Only 15 million steps to walk (18%) until we get back to the UK. A walk is never long when you have good company. https://worldwalking.org/cardiac-rehab

What a great morning! The sun is shining! Filmed by the lovely team at Gryffe Studios for the Greenock Chamber's #BeesKnees2015 awards (Thanks Laura) and then we topped that off by recording another amazing total of over 1.5 million steps last week. Just brilliant! http://gryffestudios.co.uk/

87 people joined our World Walking website yesterday! We've over 4,200 users now (24 over the age of 75!) and more than 200 active groups. Together the World Walkers have clocked up over 575,000 miles!
We're doing what it says on our tin and getting the World Walking.

We're hoping to hatch a fun plan to get the whole community of Inverclyde walking with Inverclyde Leisure Greenock Chamber CVS Inverclyde Inverclyde Radio, Your Voice, local schools and anyone else who'd like to help make this happen.

Just back from our weekly exercise class to find we've clocked up over 1 million more steps again this week.
Unbelievably, we've now walked more than 300 million steps since we headed off to explore the world in 2008. Step forward the Inverclyde Globetrotters. Simply the Bee's Knees!!
No wonder we're exhausted!

Thanks to everyone who has joined our Heart & Sole Challenge with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation to promote cardiac rehabilitation around the world.
Thanks to the 17,000 miles you've walked we've reached the half way mark and are homeward bound. We'd be delighted if you could help us make it home via http://worldwalking.org/cardiac-rehab

It's almost impossible to believe but we've now walked 125,000 miles since we set off to walk round the world way back in 2008! That's 5 times round the world. Not ready to hang up our pedometers yet though. Our next milestone is to reach 300 million steps. Only 3 million steps to go so we'd better get cracking.

We were delighted to receive this endorsement today from Richard Foggo, Head of Active Scotland Division, Scottish Government. @richardfoggo
“I am genuinely delighted to support World Walking. It is exactly the kind of action we need to get Scotland sitting less and moving more. We know that Scots need to get more active and that walking is the best way we have of getting the least active up and moving. If we can make it fun and engaging all the better. Thanks to World Walking and the Inverclyde Globetrotters."

Maybe we'll take part in the Heart & Sole 2015 challenge starting in February on World Walking which we're hoping will be the longest heart health walk ever and the first with people on every continent taking part.

Our last class of 2014 this week. Another 304 miles clocked up as we passed through Mysore. Almost reached the southern tip of India - only 3% of our walk to go. Not a bad place to spend Christmas. Last year we we shivering at the South Pole! http://worldwalking.org/route/bvklzs
