About Iriston House Dental Practice

Looking after the dental care needs of families across West Lothian for over 90 years.

Iriston House Dental Practice Description

Based in Bathgate, West Lothian. Iriston House Dental Practice was founded over 90 years ago with a founding principle of offering families the highest quality progressive dental treatment available. A lot of things have changed since then. Not least our state of the art facilities and the newest treatments. But our founding principles remain just as important today. This is recognised by our acceptance into the Good Practice Scheme operated by the British Dental Association and our commitment to the very high standards of good practice set by the association.

Practice COVID-19 Update
Last week the Scottish Government and Chief Dental Officer issued guidance that all dental practices should close and no longer see patients for the time being. However difficult this is for us all, it is to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and keep as many of our patients and staff safe as possible.
We are operating a telephone advice line, so that our patients can speak to one of our dentists every weekday between 9am and 6pm if they have a dental em...ergency. Please remember a dental emergency is either severe pain, swelling or trauma. If you are suffering any of the above issues, please call 07496 601417 to get put through to one of our dentists and we will talk you through measures you can take at home to help. NHS 24 is still operating as normal outwith these hours to give advice.
If you have a broken tooth, lost filling or lost crown we need your help with trying to manage the situation at home so as not to overwhelm the NHS. Top tips to try at home ; 1. temporary filling materials/cements for lost crowns or fillings can be purchased on the high street or online that you can use at home eg toofypegs 2. Brush brush brush, maintaining good oral hygiene will help to slow the spread of decay if you have any of the above issues 3. If you have mild-moderate pain this should be managed at home if possible. If you need more advice on how to do this, give us a ring
We hope you are all staying home and staying safe and want to thank you all again for your patience through all this. All the staff at Iriston House

*** PRACTICE UPDATE ***
Further to previous posts, we now regret to inform you that we can only provide emergency treatment until further notice due to the COVID 19 outbreak. The definitions of a dental emergency can be found below. To try to limit our contact as much as possible we have made the difficult decision to reduce our opening hours to 9am-1pm, so please contact the surgery as early as possible if you need us.... We are not able to see emergencies who have COVID symptoms, are self isolating or confirmed cases, but if you call the surgery on 01506 652135 we will give you advice on what you should do. ** PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE PRACTICE ** We will have the front door locked to prevent walk ins, but we will look out for you if you have a prearranged appointment and let you in. Contact the practice by telephone only. Please do not ask to be seen for anything else other than one of the dental emergencies listed on the picture below, this is for the protection of you, us, and the wider population. We know this is a stressful time but we ask that you please remain kind to all our staff, these circumstances are outwith our control and we are only following guidance provided by the government to help keep you and ourselves safe We thank you for your understanding during this hard time for all of us, please everyone stay home and stay safe.

🦷🌟Important Practice Update🌟🦷
Yesterday evening we received an email from the Chief Dental Officer of Scotland, advising us that as of today, dental practices across Scotland will be severely limited as to the types of dental procedure we are allowed to provide.
We are not allowed to use any equipment that uses water, or creates a spray. This means we will be unable to provide routine fillings, root treatments, crowns and bridges etc.
... We will remain open to provide an emergency dental service for patients with dental pain, swelling, bleeding or trauma. We will continue to carry out routine dental check ups, denture repairs and provision of new dentures. We will also do our best to provide temporary solutions for any lost fillings or broken teeth.
There is no indication as to how long we should expect this situation to continue but we will provide you with future updates as and when we get further guidance.
We will be contacting all our patients with existing appointments as soon as we can to rearrange them if necessary. In accordance with the new guidance we will also contact every patient with an appointment to confirm you are symptom-free and able to come in for your appointment.
Staff are available at the practice during our normal opening hours but we politely ask that you do not come into the building unless you have an appointment to prevent potential spread of the virus.
Could I also ask that you share this across the wider community, and mention it to family and friends who may not be on Facebook to help spread the word?
We remain extremely grateful for the continued support, goodwill and understanding of all our patients during what is proving to be an extremely challenging and unprecedented time for us all.
Please everyone stay kind to each other

To all our patients and for anyone seeking further information,
Our number one priority is the safety of our patients, their families and our staff.
Things are moving at a fast pace in light of the uncertainty we face over the next few weeks concerning the COVID-19 outbreak. We wanted to keep you all up to date with the steps the team at Iriston House Dental Practice have taken to ensure we are prepared for any scenario.
... As we are used to working in a clinical environment, the highest hygiene standards are always maintained at our practice. Between every patient, staff wash and disinfect their hands and the surrounding clinical area. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is used and changed between each patient to ensure you are always kept safe.
Should you feel unwell or notice any symptoms please call the practice and cancel your appointment. Late notice cancellations may be unavoidable, and we are very understanding of this.
The situation is changing daily and we will endeavour to keep you all up to date.
Kind Regards
All the staff at Iriston House Dental Practice
