Anti-Nowhere League Fri 5th Oct 2018 Ivory Blacks 56 Oswald Street Glasgow... Doors 7pm , 18+ £10 adv
The Anti Nowhere League set out on the road in 1980 to prove they could be the worst band on Gods earth loud, violent, obnoxious yobbos with one mission... to get banned from every TV show, radio station and newspapers as possible just for a laugh......they were hated by the general public as well as 'real' musicians who thought they were a disgrace to the music business(and of course the fact they were pulling more people in their live shows than they were).....with numerous encounters with the authorities they have continued to play and release new material away from the public eye....In this day and age it does not seem quite as big a deal as it was back then when they stood alone now a few of the 'real' bands have taken up the 'flag' to be original with attitude...long may independent bands continue keeping the music live and real.....long live the League

Very friendly proper old school feel to just what a music venue should be like! The bar staff were nice and the guy kelvin who was running it was a gentleman 🤘

User

This isn't a nice looking place particularly but is exactly what a venue that puts on rock and metal shows should be. Great atmosphere

User

Played here in our band days years ago..still come to see as many bands here as I can..awesome place

User

Just wanted to say thank you very much for looking after my sister on Friday 26th at the peepshow. She was quite nervous about coming out, we don't often go out in town now she is in a wheelchair but you made her feel much more relaxed. It was a great night. Thank you!!!

User

I think it's a great wee place,a bit bawgin, but still a great place, staff and people at the door are always pleasant.

User

User

Best venue in Glasgow by far. All the staff are brilliant and it's an awesome place and really is the foundation of Glasgow's metal scene. Also, From Beyond, their clubnight, is awesome as it plays great metal.

User

Always a great sound for any gig ive been to @Ivory Blacks. No heavy handed bouncers and good bar prices with quick service.would rather see bands play here than HRC or The Garage.keep up the good work folks. I'll be back for Maiden Scotland in December, tick tock

Although not my first Ivory Blacks gig, Thursday night held a special place in my heart.

My son Jason Houston was playing his first gig with his new band The Havanas. They were the headline act in a three band set.

Bad Impressions the band before were a great warm up band, with a novel Rock sound on some classic diva tracks! Fun and crowd pleasing they lifted the audience mood.

As the venue gradually filled up it was good to see it didn't affect the nerves of The Havanas front man, who gave a storming performance of not only the bands own newly composed tracks, but a unique version of Blondies "Heart of Glass" which definatley got the crowd singing along. The Havanas were rewarded with the crowd begging for more, and closed the show by swapping instruments and the drummer performing a fab version of an Eminem track. I was a very proud mama, and loved everything about the night!

User

Great venue for a gig and the sound is excellent. Saw The Cockney Rejects there last night and the venue was sold out. Great night which was helped by great bar staff and door men. Ten out of ten to the sound guy, he had it perfect ;-)

User

Good gig, mind you I'm biased as my nephew's band was playing the gig. I've seen a couple of bands at the venue and enjoyed both. One criticism, the place needs a refurb. The area behind the barriers, around the monitors, is literally a tip; it needs to be tidied up. Get rid of what ever that white construction is on the stage. Some of the tables have seen better days and replaced or stripped back and repainted. Other than that keep up the good work.
