Hi my name is Janice Dawson, I am a Freelance Wedding Stylist and Make-Up Artist. I work 7 days a week in the Bridal Hairdressing and Make Up Industry. Weddings are not just a weekend event, when you live in the wonderful City of Edinburgh Gorgeous Brides get married, any day of the week.
I take great pride and pleasure in being part of a bride’s special day and over the years I have styled hair for thousands of brides from all over the world. Most of my clientele are from the USA, Canada, China, London, and of course Scotland. I am recommended out by a number of wedding venues and every day is different and exciting for me. I travel far and wide to some of the most amazing Hotels, Estates, and Castles in Scotland and the Borders. I have styled hair for all walks of life from Royalty, TV Celebrity’s, Cat walk models to the girl next door.
I am extremely passionate about my job. To me I have the best job in the world, which is why I am proud to say I have over 23 years’ experience and for 2016 I am Celebrating 10 years of trading as JD Bridal Hair.
Wedding Hair Styling is an Art form and isn’t something you learn at college, there aren’t SVQ /NVQ to be obtained. You must have a creative mind and vision and the practical experience to build up confidence within yourself to insure you can achieve any desired look 100% .
I love to teach and pass my skills and Knowledge onto other Hairdressers, college students and independent MUA.
I can reproduce or create any style you have in mind and I am constantly researching and practicing up to date styles and methods.
I am extremely friendly, enthusiastic, and professional and I am always told I have a very calming influence.
Bookings tend to go fast throughout the year so please don’t delay in booking. If I am booked out on your wedding date, I do have a recommendation list of stylists and MUA I have trained which I can sent to you on request.
I would very much like you to book with me so here is a wee insight to my amazing life, and the history, experience and qualifications I have obtained.

1980 age 5 years Knew I was going to be a Hairdresser.
1995 intensive training at Raymond Edinburgh Morningside obtained SVQ Level 2
2000 I moved to Chelmsford in Essex and my Son Cameron was born. At this time I managed a salon and trained apprentices in night school classes.
2002 I moved to Oxford to work for the biggest hairdressing company in the world, Regis obtaining NVQ Level 3. Night school Teaching Lecturer at Oxford and Cherwell College for mature students.
2004 There is no place like home; I returned back to Edinburgh and continued working for Regis. Complete my Reiki Master’s degree in Findhorn Scotland.
2005 I worked as a trainer with the Wedding Hair Training Academy within Salon Services.
2006 I decided to go freelance and JD Bridal Hair was born and has been extremely successful for 10 years.
2007 My wee princess Jasmine was born. Qualification obtained for Swedish massage and Hopi Ear Candles.
2011 Obtained my Make Up Qualification.
2013 Wrote and produced my own teaching manuals for JD Bridal Hair Training Beginners and Advanced Courses.
2014 Began my teaching courses.
2016 Happy, Healthy, Loved and Wealthy.
