bought my mother of the bride outfit on Thursday and although the shop is not the same with all the work going on at St James Centre I have to say I had excellent service from all the staff involved. Also the staff who are at different areas in the shop giving customers directions where to go you are all doing a great Job.

We spent an hour or two in our favourite shop on Saturday 05/0/11/16 pondering if we should or should not buy the latest Apple iPad and apple mini. Went out and visited The Apple Store and had a rethink. John Lewis was giving us a 3 year guarantee and although I do not expect to need it with Apple we went back to John Lewis. We spoke to several very helpful Apple and John Lewis staff members. After thinking and re-thinking we decided to take the plunge and we bought The iPad Pro 7.9 and the iPad mini 4. The very helpful Apple man then demonstrated the key board attachment thingy and the cover so I bought that as well. We at no time felt under pressure to buy and thanks to the helpful advice given we pulled out the credit card and and bought the lot. We have spent over £1,000 but it will be worth it on Christmas Day, after all it's Christmas.. John & Carol from Portobello

Visited JL Edinburgh on Saturday and haf an excellent experience, firstly had coffee and cake in the new cafe with terrific views and helpful assistant. Next stop shoe department where the assistant there was just terrific as far as locating a selection for my little fat feet- success. Another two items bought with equal excellent assistance including at the tills - had a great morning. Thanks very much everyone. So Sorry don't Know names.

I have no problem with the shop itself and they are doing well considering all the upheaval. I do miss the old shop, but looking forward to being back to normal once the new shopping centre is opened. We were at the cafe which is not laid out very well. We had to stand in a queue for coffee then had to wait to get a cake. You then have to go to a separate bit for paying. The cafe is my only gripe & we did not like the very strong latte's. Beautiful view & cakes though. I do like the idea that you can have a wee wine or prosecco.

I have had a few issues with the pram I brought in store. I have been so impressed with how amazing the customer service have been with dealing with this. The staff have been so helpful, professional and efficient . Thanks you so much!

Great shop and very friendly partners

Fab shop. Somewhat difficult to access just now but that didn’t stop us. Cafe made my day too. Moroccan chicken soup and brownie was AMAZING!!!

Even though the shop and staff are bravely coping with the rebuild around them you wouldn't know. They make every effort to welcome each and everyone into the shop.we spoke to various me bees of staff who were on hand to help with anything and everything.Last night offered me time to look at other items I would not have seen normally. The shop is very presentable and I will definitely be going back.JL never knowingly undersold....keep it up.

Always enjoy a nice coffee and cake, great assortment ! Don't like their scones, they are like boulders and are tasteless !

Very disappointed with lunch in restaurant on 5th floor. Way too many manoeuvres to assemble meals, serving staff not very helpful and food cold by the time we found a table (which we had to clear ourselves). Won’t be back for a while.

The rebuilding has resulted in the shop resemblibg ac warehouse in some parts. The place has always been a bit of a shambles it is just worse. I think it is the worse JL shop. The staff are fine, and must have to put up with a lot whilst the building work goes on for 4 years. JL should have just moved

My husband, 7 yr old son and I were in here and spent a fortune on winter clothes and a couple of other items. The service was great as always however, we went to the 'new' restaurant (hadn't been there since it changed). The breakfast was really not great and definately not to the same standard. My son who was very hungry of course went for the buttermilk pancakes and bacon. Well you could have helped the building site next door with the concrete pancakes! My husband went up and they said they would replace it however they were exactly the same. My son is eating his arm by this point. The restaurant manager once found offered something else which was the kids box but the sandwich was hard, the little packet of apples were brown and so we left very u happy. No offer from the manager to refund my sons meal either ! Not good John Lewis!

Within the cafe. Tables not cleared. Poor choice of food. Small portions for an exuberant price. I would say it was bought in food plonked into the micro. Or cakes from Gregg's. Poor show . But hey. You can always scam idiots an tourists out of money. Shame on you

Waited in all morning for a delivery to be told when I rang they told me they’d rang me buzzer which is false. I also included my phone number if three were any issues but not call. Asked to send me the photo the apparently took, no email sent. Bunch of time wasters avoid.

Today I was first time at John Lewis and I would like to look new model of Philips Iron (I had to go there because only JL distribute this model). When I found and decide to buy that iron, he come to me customer adviser and ask how he can help me, so I said then I decide to buy this new model of iron, and he look on me and show me cheapest iron at JL. It looked like I looked like a poor man and don't have enough money to buy this Iron and he wanded to sell me some cheapest s**t! I feel very upset and this was very bad experience for me. I hope so I will never have to go there again. Apparently I did not look too rich man, but You can't judge a book by its cover.

My sonicare toothbrush broke down within the two year guarantee. Helpful Tim arranged a refund of purchase price as no equivalent to give me but then said Edinburgh store had a couple and to contact them direct. Called to speak to the toothbrush department but obviously got the call centre first who want you to tell them why you want to speak to the store. Waste of time. Anyway seems they do have the toothbrush I want but the computer won’t let them send it to Waitrose for me to collect. As anyone in Edinburgh knows, the store is currently somewhat inaccessible. Was offered delivery but would be charged. Asked to speak to a manager...none available. It calls into doubt the whole two year guarantee promise which only seems to work if I do the legwork, but have checked websites and it is available in Argos.

I was in the Edinburgh branch of John Lewis today with my husband to buy a pram. There was 3 sales assistants helping a couple purchase a pram and after waiting 20 mins for someone to help us we left. I appreciate they were trying to give the couple a good service but they could have sold two prams in that time if they had given us some of their time as well! Did the sale really need 3 sales assistants?!? We were there to buy a pram too! I have shopped in John Lewis my whole life and this is the first time I have been very unimpressed by their lack of customer service!

Hi

I have not visiited the cafe in John Lewis for about 12 years as I have been out of the country. On Sunday I had the chance to drop in for a late lunch. I was really looking forward to it as the cafe used to be great. You could always count on a good meal. I was really disapointed, it has to the the worst cafe experience since we got back, a lot of the food had run out. The roll I choose had what I assume was rocket in it, but it was difficult to tell as it was so slimey and rotted. The coffee was cold, the cold drink was hot and the cheesecake was stale and soggy. Then there was the applepie, which looked amazing but tasted like apple scented toilet clearner (not that I have tasted apple scented toilet cleaner). The staff were great and very apologetic, they offered to replace the coffee and the roll. But the alternatives looked just as unappatizing. I appreciate that it was about 1:45pm on a Sunday. But really food should be available and just as good at any time of the day. Afterall we pay the same as everybody else. They dont drop their prices as the day goes on so the quality of the food should not drop either. Or is it just as bad all day?

Have been visiting the place to eat for years & a few weeks ago had our usual scone & tea!

Obviously these scones have been changes as we couldn’t even finish eating them as they were so dense & dry, the cream half frozen so will avoid choosing them again!

Yesterday thought we’d have a change & order a fresh main meal only to find meals are no longer fresh but bought in frozen, will not be eating again at John Lewis Edinburgh!

No chefs in the kitchen is not the way to go, I’m sure things will only go downhill,

Very disappointed!😟
