Jolly tots childminding nursery in borehamwood are looking to recruit a highly motivated, Early years provider to work with children aged 0 -2 years in borehamwood Herts. The ideal candidate will have a level 2/3 or above qualification, experience of working with children of this age group, a regard for their duty to safeguard children, a flexible play based approached to learning and an understanding of the EYFS. The position can be part time or full time and we are open throughout the year from 7.30 till 6pm. Part time would constitute half of one day. A driver would be preferable.Please note all applicants will need to hold an enhanced Dbs and be able to provide 2 references. This is a nursery teacher:
You know bob the builder and all his friends. Doing 15+ nappies a day is the norm. You know all nursery rhymes & songs. You have perfected 'the look' when a child missbehaves. You can get 8+ children to sleep within 20minutes. You find yourself saying 'I'm not going to tell you again' then repeating it 5minutes later. The word OFSTED sends panic through you even though you know you'll be fine.
If you don't come home with paint/glue/some form of me...ssy play in your hair or on your clothes, then it hasn't been a very successful day. After a long hard day you hate it when your friends say "Why are you so tired, you only play all day" Two words.. Potty training. You can recite "we're going on a bear hunt... we're going to catch a big one.. we're not scared..." without even a glance at the book. You say 'oh dear, how sad' on a daily basis.
You flinch when someone says 'naughty' but then you realise that in the real world it isnt a FORBIDDEN word!! You can make up games on the spot. You are aware that "twinkle twinkle little star" and the alphabet have the same tune. You have 20 pairs of shoes and know which shoes belong to who. You love playing outside as much as the children. You care for the children as if they were your own cuddling them, playing with them and teaching them.
You leave work looking like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards and stamped on by a heard of elephants, despite leaving the house in pristine condition less than 12 hours earlier!!!

Make eating solely about the relationship between your toddler and her tummy. Don’t get excited when she eats well, disappointed when she doesn’t, coax or encourage her. Be careful not to give her the impression that the amount she eats pleases or even affects mom, dad or anyone. Instead, encourage her to focus on her physical needs — her appetite and sense of fullness — by staying neutral. This requires tempering feelings, curbing both enthusiasm and worry. Since our toddlers are very, very, very smart and can read between the lines, we can’t even give them the gentle reminder that they like eggs without them sensing our agenda. Believe it...
