About Karen'S Dogs
Karen's DOGS cater to all canine personalities with our personalised, private dog training and behaviour sessions in Central Scotland. We believe all dogs are individuals and deserve tailor made training plans that will achieve real-life results.
Karen'S Dogs Description
Karen's DOGS is run by the first Victoria Stilwell Approved Trainer in Scotland. Karen has been hand selected by Victoria Stilwell to join her team of the very best positive reinforcement dog trainers around the world. We strongly believe that only kind, gentle and effective training methods should be used.
Positive reinforcement sees dogs gaining treats, toys and praise for displaying the correct behaviour - which all dogs love! This method is used in all our services including dogs that have behavioural problems. At no point should dogs be forced into intimating positions, we should instead be respectful and gentle. Positive reinforcement has been shown in numerous scientific studies to be the most effective, long lasting and safest way to train a dog.
By signing up to one of our services, whether it is at class or in a individual session, training at both end of the lead occurs; owners are always taught how their dog thinks, learns and communicates which leads to better understanding of their best friends.
Overall, Karen's DOGS strives to help develop a unique and strong bond between owners and their dogs to ensure their dog is a welcomed member of society and the family!

Be kind to each other too โค๏ธ
Harley ๐ค He had his last puppy session this afternoon around Linlithgow Loch were we worked in front of lots of real life distractions! Really looking forward to seeing him on the social walks ๐พ
Three of my favourites in this video... Emmy, Nairn beach and successful recall training ๐ค
To finish off a big, busy day with clients and VSA students I practiced some yoga. Emmy decided to join me and brought Ted for the meditation section ๐
Help is here ๐ค
This babe is just EVERYTHING โค๏ธ
My plan today with my babes... heating on and staying inside!
Things to do -
๐พ Let dogs out in the garden but check your fences haven't blown down (and gates haven't blown open)! If they have take your dog out on the lead for toilet breaks (better safe than sorry!)
... ๐พ Lots of mental stimulation games - licklimats, snufflemats, bones, Kongs and Finer by Nature chews (which my guys LOVE)
๐พ Short and sweet training sessions. Devoted to Dogs members - give the shaping and self-control exercises a go - so much fun and will tire your dog out :)

To all dog owners... you got this!
Being a dog owner can be hard work. We often have training to do and sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming.
Take you time; think about the problem, what you want your dog to do instead and how you can set your dog up for success ๐ฅฐ
... Also be kind to yourself; work through training plans slowly, don't tackle all the problems at once and if you feel you have made mistakes don't bet yourself up about it, just learn from it and move on. Remember to set yourself up for success too โค๏ธ
Love your biggest cheerleaders, Karen, Emmy and Barr x

Meet Jaxon ๐งก
This beautiful big pup is super worried about other dogs, after a bad experience when he was younger. Now at 9 months old he won't bark, lunge and growl at dogs... he wants to run away and then tries to get back to his owner โค๏ธ
We worked on building his confidence around dogs. We worked in front of dogs on his normal walk, then in front of Barr so his owner could practice how to progress the training.
... He did so well we worked on loose lead walking too ๐พ

This handsome, super friendly, super smart pup had his first training session today. We started to work on his greetings towards other people and dogs - four paws on the floor!
He thought the turkey treats were YUM ๐
Meet Storm ๐
Today in his first puppy visit we worked on jumping, nipping and mouthing, along with some impulse control exercises.
So excited to see him next week and whether his ears will work out what they are doing by then ๐

She had her second puppy training session this morning and did soooo well ๐
Our first session, last week, consisted of her constantly jumping, nipping and biting at me for attention. She didn't sit still for the hour!
... This week... we worked on a go to bed and settle. She was calm, focused, fell in love with the clicker and decided to settle by herself at the end of the session when I was talking through homework with her owner ๐ฅฐ
Happy training ๐

Thank you to everyone who came to the social walk this morning! A wet walk but happy walk โค๏ธ Alfie and Sadie - we missed you, see you one the next one ๐ฅฐ
Someone called me yesterday, and left a voicemail message, wanting to work on recall training with their Labrador. They didn't leave their number and phoned from a private number (so it didn't come up on my phone!) If it was you, please get back in touch :)
