In so far as possible, we will continue to offer kayak trips and canoe/sup hire throughout the season. By their very nature, paddlesports take place in the safety of relative isolation and with a few extra precautions and slight changes to procedures, close contact with others can easily be avoided. So if you're thinking of continuing with your holiday plans to our lovely remote area, here on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland, we can still get you out onto the water for an unforgettable experience. Hope to see you soon, Dave 😎

It's time to think about getting back onto the water, so we're going to start with one of my favourite paddle journeys on Sunday 29th March. This winter has been the worse I've known for wind and rain since starting Kayak Majik, but hopefully the weather will soon improve. The first trip planned for the season will be in the truly spectacular Sound of Jura. The tides will be just right for a day trip from Carsaig Bay, heading South on the ebbing tide and after lunch returning on the flood. A great opportunity to learn about kayaking in some gentle tidal flows, weaving through the islands and channels. There is a place left on the trip, so please get in touch if you want to grab this space, or if you wish to go on a trip on another date. Cheers, Dave.

Blue skies, turquoise seas, white sandy beaches, seals and other wildlife, along with wild flowers, bees, butterflies, mountain views, coffee at the Boat House, are all things to be experienced on a Sea Kayaking trip to Gigha and Cara. Duncan from Australia, Barbara, Mhairi and Kathryn, have all recently enjoyed day trips with me to these two beautiful islands located off the West Coast of Kintyre. With planned open crossings, or use of the ferry for safety, they are accessible to people with surprisingly little previous paddling experience. Contact me at dave@kayakmajik.co.uk or call me on 07891861393 to plan your journey to this magical place.

The view of the Paps of Jura is something I can never tire of on my regular paddling trips in the Sound. The exposed location, joining straight onto the Atlantic Ocean, tidal streams and eddies, potentially make this area one of the most challenging in the UK. But with fair weather and good planning a safe day trip is feasible, even for kayakers who have only a little previous experience. David, Victoria and Barbara, joined me for a journey from Ormsary in Loch Caolisport, around Point of Knap, to this lovely beach for a short break ashore, before returning, learning 'skeg steering' to follow a 'transit line' along the way. If you would like to go on a fantastic day paddle in some spectacular scenery and learn some Sea Kayak journeying skills at the same time, please contact me to book a trip. Dave 😎

Father's day is looming up fast and if you're struggling for a gift idea, we may just have the solution for you. Why not give him one of our paddlesport gift vouchers this year? He could get out on the water with us to try Sea Kayaking, Open Canoeing or Stand-Up-Paddleboarding. No previous experience required. Why not make it an even more memorable experience by joining him on the water as well? For details please message me or call me on 07891861393.

We who are lucky enough live and paddle here, already know what a wonderful unique place this is, but it's great to see it get official recognition. Well done to all involved in acheiving this. Why not join me on a Sea Kayaking journey along this amazing coastline, leaving no trace and taking nothing but memories, (well, maybe the odd photo or two)?

It's the perfect morning to try a Stand Up Paddleboard! With just a few minutes of basic tuition you can try this fantastic new sport in the sheltered, shallow bay of our base in West Loch, Tarbert. Great fun for families, groups and individuals. Buoyancy aids and wetsuits provided. #fun #tarbert

It's always amazing how quickly the Equinox passes and the start of the season approaches. I've not been idle over the winter though. Over a decade ago I drafted an idea about a campaign us Sea Kayakers could undertake to remove marine litter and with the issue being so prominent in the news lately, I thought it high time I did something about it. The Skampi Organisation is soon to be launched and here is your opportunity to get involved as a founding member right at the start. Would this be of interest to you? You're probably already doing 'your bit'. Together we could make an even bigger difference.... Ideas meeting, 10:00am, 6th April at West Loch Tarbert, followed by a paddle trip, Would you like to join us?

Happy New Year, everyone. The 2018 season was the 5th year of KAYAK MAJIK and 2019 is shaping up to be very exciting in the lead up to Easter. I hope to be making a few announcements over the next few weeks about some interesting developments. Firstly, I'm really pleased to announce that KAYAK MAJIK is to become a recognised Expedition Centre for the International Sea Kayak Guide Association (ISKGA). We will be organising some of very interesting courses over the coming month...s, so please watch this space for details. ISKGA was founded by Jeff Allen in Cornwall in 2012. He was one of the first people to give me training in the art of Sea Kayaking back in 2003 and has inspired many others to develop their personal paddling and survival skills, many going on to become coaches/guides. Details can be found at www.ISKGA.org and Jeff regularly contributes articles for the Ocean Paddler magazine. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this goes. Cheers, Dave.
