Kelso Racecourse

About Kelso Racecourse

We are a National Hunt Racecourse staging jumps racing from September through until May in the beautiful Borders countryside and picturesque town of Kelso.

Kelso Racecourse Description

Kelso racecourse is steeped in history and tradition. Opened in 1822 the original building is still a centre of activity on a race day, with coal fires blazing during the cold winter months, it maintains a unique charm that has welcomed race goers for over a century.

All season long, from the first meeting in September to the conclusion of the National Hunt season in May, Kelso offers the best in Scottish Jump racing. Attracting the finest horses, jockeys and trainers, Kelso maintains the highest quality of racing that has transcended generations.

User

Took my father out for the day at the races, we had been before and really enjoyed our day so let's go again! Not disappointed a great days racing at a great track , the weather was shocking very wet and miserable but the welcome was warm and friendly had a great time ! Thank you everyone involved with Kelso racecourse for a great day and great racing.

User

This is a great racecourse with a very friendly atmosphere. Very reasonably priced tickets and fantastic hospitality. Look forward to returning soon.

User

Nice wee course , Had a great day there at the October Saturday meeting , It was nt too busy which was good. Defo a great Track , Would recommend it to anyone to visit

User

My wife and I attended the Border Principals meeting last Sunday. It was our first visit to Kelso racecourse but it won't be the last.

We loved it ! Beautiful racecourse , excellent viewing and facilities.

Booking and parking easy and racecourse stàff very pleasant and helpful

Fantastic

User

My husband and I attended your Ladies Day on Sunday, for the 3rd year in a row we chose the Final Furlong package, we absolutely loved it. I love the set up, almost like attending a wedding. I like being on the edge of the racecourse , having the totes either at your table or just outside the marquee, the meal is just enough ( cheesecake was lovely). Only slight criticism ( or request ) is can we have Pimms in the bar next year

User

It is the best and friendless had a great day and super disco at night

User

I am 22, I attended on the 8th October 2017 with my father and 2 of his friends, one who was there to celebrate his 80th Birthday. We all enjoyed the occasion, my father has visited all 60 racecourses, He visited Kelso 5 years ago and recommended it as one of his favourite courses. The view from the top of the stand was excellent and everyone is able to get a close up of the horses both before and after they've raced and you can even get close enough to hear what the jockeys are saying on there way back in. I don't know any other course that sells beer less than £4 and the £5 burger was well worth the price Living in Manchester, Kelso is no by means it our local course, but it is highly likely we will be back again.

User

Had a fantastic day in the tweedie hospitality suite, lovely friendly staff, lovely food really enjoyed it, I had 4 winners to top it off. Thank you so much

User

Had a fabulous day at Kelso racing will be back few winners aswell

User

Great racecourse to go to, the downfall is gets to busy and not enough room to get pass from people I think it will be better if it spreads out a bit if people want to bet and watch the horses, love coming to Kelso Races.

User

Great day with my borders family had a great time nice set-up at race course

User

Great course, great staff, very well organised had some great days there.

User

Fantastic old school racecourse. Beautiful surroundings. Facilities are fab, and the pop up bar they have on busy race meets serves great real ales and is a refreshing change. The gin and tonics were amazing!

User

Best racecourse ever for. People who love horseracing and not just to get drunk

User

Yes, one of the best racecourses in the country. As a longtime member of Kelso, I would like to add a few suggestions.

(1) For older people, or even tired youngsters, there is a serious shortage of somewhere to sit down and have a rest. More seats around the viewing areas would make it more comfortable.

(2) The "soup" that is always on sale within the venue, is very bad, tasteless and lacking body. Sometimes people just want a simple snack, but we do expect something a bit better.

(3) There is a serious lack of decent coffee. People at home would not drink this watered down version.

It could be the perfect venue for the members, guests, and the general public, with just a little thought.

Sorry to be complaining, some things just need to be pointed out?

We will always continue to support Kelso , as our Xmas gift to each other, but it does need a wee bit of improvement here and there.

User

I live in Morecambe and it is a 286 mile round trip but my partner and I love the course

User

Attended the meeting at Kelso on 8th September 2017 and had a really good day out. We didn't buy any package but still had a great day out although our choice of winners left a lot to be desired. After the meeting we made our way into Kelso and had an excellent meal at The Cobbles which is located just off the town square. I would have given the day out a 4.5 if I could!!!

User

I love going to Kelso races, but there are a few things the organisers could improve on: 1. More food and drink concessions. 2. More, cleaner toilets, 3. Better selection at the bar and 4. More bins.
