Health and social care services across the country have been scaled back to enable the NHS in Scotland to best respond to Coronavirus. This has led to the cancellation of all but the most urgent procedures and changes to a number of crucial services.
As part of efforts to keep local people informed about changes in health and social care provision, NHS Fife has developed a new website which provides a one-stop-shop for updates on local healthcare services during the Covid-19... pandemic, including our acute hospital services and community services managed by the Fife Health & Social Care Partnership.
The new website can be accessed directly at https://coronavirus.nhsfife.org/ and brings together a range of information about local healthcare services and signposts to helpful guidance from NHS Inform and Scottish Government to support people to limit the spread of the virus here in Fife. The site also includes materials in a range of languages, as well as British Sign Language for those with a hearing impairment.

UPDATE 26/03/20 @ 3pm
Asthma/COPD Rescue Packs – we are receiving a large number of requests for ‘rescue packs’ from asthma/COPD sufferers. It is unsafe for GPs to prescribe a blanket ‘rescue pack’ for all asthma and COPD patients. At the moment we would only consider a pack of antibiotics and steroids if you have had an acute exacerbation of your condition in the last 2-years.
Letter for High Risk Category Patients - NSS Practitioner Services (PSD) will issue an advice let...ter to all those patients identified as ‘most at risk’ and who require to be shielded. These letters will start being distributed in batches from today, direct from PSD.
Pharmacy - Community pharmacies and GP surgeries are currently experiencing a huge increase in the quantity of prescriptions requested. Please ensure that you are not over ordering or stockpiling medication, and only order what you currently need. Please do not order inhalers unless they are really needed and check your stock level first. Each pharmacy is working hard to dispense medications but due to demand these are taking longer than normal so please allow 7 – 10 days before collecting where possible.
Annual Reviews – Our chronic disease annual reviews are currently suspended and any patients with reviews booked for March and April are currently being cancelled. Patients will be recalled in due course.
Isolation – If you are currently due to coronavirus symptoms or are a household member of someone with symptoms an isolation letter for your employer can be obtained at https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note
Shielding – If you are currently shielding for 12-weeks due to a medical condition we cannot issue a letter for employers. You and your employer should visit https://www.nhsinform.scot/…/coronaviru s-covid-19/coronavir…
Patients who are currently well but are worried about Coronavirus - please visit https://www.nhsinform.scot/…/infectionâ €¦/coronavirus-covid-19 or contact the freephone helpline number on 0800 028 2816
