Kelvingrove Bandstand And Amphitheatre Description

Welcome to Kelvingrove Bandstand and Amphitheatre, a much-loved place of live music, entertainment, gatherings and festivals since 1925. Restored to our former glory in 2014, we are the only original bandstand left in Glasgow.

Each summer, we open our doors and host a kaleidoscopic array of events including arts festivals, live music, open days, family fun days plus much more. This year alone, we welcomed Sir Tom Jones, Primal Scream, Van Morrison, Will Young and Billy Ocean onto our stage.

For more information on Kelvingrove Bandstand & Amphitheatre and our restoration, please visit

The Bandstand is managed by Glasgow Life. Our thanks to Glasgow Building and Preservation Trust for undertaking the restoration in partnership with Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life. The restoration of the Bandstand was made possible by funding from Architectural Heritage Fund, Glasgow City Heritage Trust, Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland, Hugh Fraser Foundation, Landfill Communities Fund, Sylvia Waddilove Foundation and William Grant and Sons.

What an amazing outdoor venue. For the second year in a row, I've been so impressed with this place. It doesn't matter where in the venue you sit, the sound & view is awesome. Toilets are spotless. Brilliant!

Tom Jones last night. One of my favourite artists at an intimate venue, of great character, in my old home town. Well-staffed event, staff friendly/informative/visible, no queues and clean loos. Wonderful evening. Sir Tom still on form, wonderful atmosphere, sound system great and the weather behaved. The Underground was also back on, working like clockwork, when I got up to catch the train home this morning. The memories will stay with me for many years to come. Thank you. Well done Glasgow!

The Bandstand is truely a gem of Glasgow, placed firmly in the citys music crown.

But for the love of music, ambience, and most importantly- respect for the artist and the rest of the audience, DON'T be a self entitled, selfish, disrespectful eejit and stand in front of the performer, turn your back on them and take a selfie.

Saw Seasick steve last night, amazing evening, beautiful weather, Seasick and his drummer on point. Then as hes stood at the mic centre stage, connecting with the crowd, some woman stands right in front of him, with her back to him, and takes a selfie. Then another person does...and another...and another. He basically said 'stop it or im gonna hit ye', and yet people continued to do it. He stopped the same song 3 times cos of these people.

The crowd cheered in delight for him calling them out on it. Then, incredibly, some auld bint walks all the way down to the front, whilst the whole crowd jeered, and takes a selfie right in front of him. Right after he said not to. Hes stopped the song, again. The whole audience was booing and jeering at her, she did not give a damn. She stopped the show. What the hell gives you the right to stop the show with total disregard for everyone there?!

Security eventually prevented anyone from trying it again.

Bandstand organisers- please, please, please, do not let these self entitled, downright disrespectful fools with no regard for the rest of the audience there, do these selfies in front of the performer.

Thats not cool, thats you being an utter stain. Away ye go and learn the basics of social ettiquette!! you are not the best person in the world that deserves everything over the next person.

You're the problem. You're the negative aspect of an otherwise incredible night. Behave yourself and think about someone else instead of social media 'likes'.

The bandstand is one of the best things about the city, experience it, respect it, treasure it.

The staff are great, the bars ran smooth, the place is clean, the vibe is amazing, the lighting is beautiful. Experience it.

User

Saw jack savoretti there it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. It couldn't have rained any harder but the acoustics were perfect and matched by the atmosphere. Jack sounded brilliant as good or on some songs better than his studio recordings. Highly recommended. Tom Jones is playing there soon which is bizarre and flattering for the venue at the same time to think a huge star like him would play such an intimate venue. Phenomenal

User

Saw Bryan Ferry here in July - first time at this venue and absolutely loved it rain and all

User

I saw Will Young last night and had a fabulous time! I loved the venue, it reminds me of the sort of thing you get in Italy with the trees and fairy lights & seating so straight away it was rather magical. The stewards were great fun and the whole thing felt so relaxed and intimate.

On to Will... he was FABULOUS!! energetic and full on yet never losing a single note of his outstanding vocals. He gave a brilliant set and 100% commitment to his craft.

I came from the Midlands to watch but would be back in a heartbeat. Please Please Please ask Will back! A residency would be nice :-) Lol

Five star show for me, everything was great and Will - perfect!

User

I love the atmosphere but take a cushion of something to sit on or you may get a chill!

User

I had a great night and Tom

Jones was amazing . Just one thing I noticed was a woman with a baby in a pram. I don't think a pop concert is the place for a baby and the noise can't have been good for the ears although the baby did have ear muffs on

I would certainly recommend attending this venue again

User

I attended Kelvingrove Bandstand for the first time on Saturday, 5th August to see Tom Jones live. First of all, the concert was absolutely tremendous including the support act 'Into The Ark', but the Bandstand itself is a great outdoor venue and we would definitely return in future. It was much better than we had expected, we couldn't fault it. The staff were very helpful and friendly and everything was very organised. Every seat had a great view. There was no overcrowding, big queues or any disruption of any kind. I would recommend taking a blanket to sit on as the stone seats are chilly. A great night was had by all. Not forgetting, Tom Jones was phenomenal but that's not unusual!!! YEAH!!

User

Had an absolutely brilliant time, excellent place for a gig, would defo go back, atmosphere was fantastic and Dr Hook were Amazing

User

Great venue.Saw Tom Jones last night and the acoustics were amazing. The staff were so helpful with spotless toilets . The gin bar was a nice change from beers and wine. The views are excellent as can see the stage well from all areas. The lights on the trees at night made it even more special. It was my favourite concert ever.

User

Great venue on a lovely night with the fabulous Alfie Boe Alcohol prices high though..small bottle of Prosecco was £8!

User

Fabulous venue, my wee son and I were at the Shires on Friday night. Felt so safe and intimate I even let him go to the toilet by himself, which he was thrilled about as he likes to be independent. Great choice of refreshments (fit fine nachos!!) and great views of the stage. Staff were helpful, we really appreciated the ponchos when it started to rain. Also my son was going down the front to take photos during both bands and the security guard let him right up to the barrier at the side, but didn't seem to be allowing anyone to stand there so it was like he had his own wee photo spot, he was dead chuffed - and got some quite good pics! Thanks to all concerned, well worth the trip from Aberdeen (and The Shires were amazing as always!)

User

Brilliant venue. Had my first experience of it in August. It just works really well.

User

Been every year since they started and just cannot say enough good things about it. Lucky to go twice this year to Texas and Paul Carrack, Nick Lowe and Andy Fairweather Low and they were just amazing. The acoustics are second to none. It's very up close and personal. The staff are really friendly and accomodating. Free ponchos are available if it rains. Looking forward to next year's line up being announced, cos I certainly will be back.

User

Amazing venue. I’ve seen OMD and the Pixies over the past two years at Kelvingrove. Thoroughly recommend, especially if you are lucky enough to get the weather on your side.
