There will be another informal group bicycle ride taking place this coming Saturday 11th March starting The Harbour Square, Kirkcudbright at 9am, organised by a local cycling enthusiast. The group is friendly and welcomes all riders, However, you will need to be OK with about 25 miles. There will be a stop for coffee. Hope some of you can make it.

Hi Everyone, just to let you all know unfortunately, we were not successful in securing CCF funding for a second year. We will keep you posted of any updates via this page / KDT website. Thank you to everyone who participated in the project, it's been a great pleasure to work with you.

Been busy cycling the routes (some of them) for our leaflets today - hopefully, these maps will be suitable for the Graphic Designer

Hi Guys - does anyone have an old kayak they don't need anymore as we are trying to build a kayak soapbox. It doesn't matter if it has holes in it, as not going in water , it is having wheels put on it. Thanks Liz and Ollie x

Jeff came in today to say goodbye before he cycles off to Nairobi next week. It's been amazing meeting Jeff, and hearing all his stories - he has pedalled through countries, continents, the world! He says he rarely felt threatened or intimidated, and people have been universally kind to him wherever he went :) Safe travelling Jeff, until we meet again x

Happy Christmas and New Year from all at Kirkcudbright Cycles for Life. We re-open January 9th 2017, and look forward to seeing you then!

What’s the best way to travel to your work Christmas lunch? On your bike of course!
The Kirkcudbright office at Gillespie Gifford & Brown decided to celebrate their Christmas lunch with a twist, with all the team travelling by bicycle to the School House Tearoom in Ringford. And they stuck to their plan despite the rain!
Kirkcudbright Cycles for Life were happy to help out, supplying bikes to those that needed them. It was a double celebration, as Gavin Scott is retiring, and as a keen cyclist, he was the inspiration for them to get on their bikes.

Make sure your bike is in good working order this winter, with this useful 11 step ‘M’-check guide from Sustrans Scotland, plus a funky video as well (in between visits to your local bike shop of course!). http://www.sustrans.org.uk/…/bic…/m-c heck-your-bike-11-steps

I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff this morning - Jeff is from Canada and has cycled all over the world on his bike! He is currently working on a dairy farm until January, then he is off again on his travels. It was so inspiring hearing his stories; bicycles bring people together, that's for sure! People with adventurous spirits - and that can be anything from a cross-continental trip, to a cycle ride along St Mary's Isle! Viva le Bici ( as they would say in Italy) :)

It's rather cold out there! The Kirkcudbright Cycles for Life Team have taken to sitting in warm Church Halls to design safety information literature with our young people. This adorable little tiger is by Stuart, who is reminding everyone to wear a helmet when out and about on a bicycle; very good advice! Although it's cold outside, that's not an excuse to decommission your bike to the back of the garage. We will be discussing appropriate gear in future posts which will keep you warm as toast while you're out on your bikes; we're also continuing with our weekly rides, so get in touch if fancy a blast (or pootle) and, of course, a cuppa at the end!

This is worth a read, an excellent article. Thanks David!

Get ready for winter! We will be running some 'M' check evenings, where we'll go over simple safety checks and tips to keep you safe, seen and cycling over the coming months. Please comment below, message, or pop in to the shop if you're interested; we will have homemade soup and bread afterwards, so a nice social evening :) Dates and venue will be to suit numbers interested. Look forward to hearing from you!

Cindy and I had a lovely ride along the Isle yesterday; Cindy is just back on her bike and is loving every second! If you feel you would benefit from a bit of company to get your self-confidence back, please pop in and see us; we can go for a ride together (no hills, promise ;) )
