CUTE AND CUDDLY BUT NOT A CUDDLY TOY!
When you leave Wordsworth the baby Tawny owl in the gift shop for five minutes and come back to find him fast asleep in among the cuddly toys! The result is rather cute though!!

FANTASTIC FATHERS
Today's amazing dad is Hector our porcupine who became a father earlier this year to two porcupettes. He has been an amazing dad taking it in turns with Henrietta our female porcupine to stay in the den with the young and standing guard over them as they began to explore.

FANTASTIC FATHERS
As it's fathers day on Sunday, we are going to celebrate some of the amazing animal dad's here at the centre. Today's doting father is our white stork who has raised many chicks over the years .
Every year he helps his mate build the nest and incubate the eggs and when he's not incubating he's standing guard, and he is not a bird to be messed with- he is fiercely protective of his mate and young!

OWL CENTRE VOLUNTEER GARDENERS NEEDED!
This week is Natioal Volunteers week--and our volunteers are a hugely important part of our team.
We get many requests from people who want to help out but maybe not directly with the animals--so--
... Then why not join our owl gardeners for a little planting, weeding, pruning and a bit of tidying to help keep the centre spick & span.
All while working around our beautiful Owls (such as our baby white faced owl pictured) and amazing animals--we even finish each session with tea & cake!

MEET WORDSWORTH OUR 5 WEEK OLD BABY TAWNY OWL!
Wordsworth--or William to his friends! was hatched with a friend of ours and will hopefully grow up to join our Flying Display & experience day team.
... It has been many years since we last had Tawny Owls at the centre and even longer since we flew one on the display team--Wordsworth is very confident (hes rather cute too!) and has been meeting the public all week!
We have lots on--

THIS HALF TERM THE BIG GUYS TAKE FLIGHT!
Our trio of Pink Backed Pelicans will be taking part in our Flying Dispalys--and they are rather impressive!

Watch the flying, feed the hens, meet our super cute baby meerkats & baby owls----and oh step over Pogo the Peacock who does like to sunbath in the doorway!!
if you haven't met Pogo she is the rather confident one who likes to walk you round the centre and who will grab any food you may have!!

LOOKING SPECTACULAR IN WHITE!!
Our White Peacock is looking rather spectacular at the moment and his displays are very impressive!
The males have all set up individual territories and are busy displaying - doing their best to impress the hens--who tour the different territories viewing the males on offer!
... With it being Bank Holiday Monday we will be open with a Flying Display, Meerkat Talk and the chance to meet one of our Baby Owls!

A BUSY EASTER WITH SOME BUSY BABIES!
That's the Easter Holidays all done--it was a very busy couple of weeks here at the centre with flying displays, Easter Quiz, Children's Crafts, meerkat babies, porcupine babies & lots of rather cute baby owls!
We hope everyone that visited enjoyed their visit--we are now on our school term time hours of open Thursday to Sunday.

Look how much our Baby Burrowing Owls have grown! They are almost fully grown and will be flying soon.--Tomorrow is the last day of our Easter Holiday Activities--flying display, meerkat & Porcupine Feed & Talk, meet the Baby Owls, Childrens Craft and our big Easter Quiz!--we are open 10:00am to 4:30pm.

PUNK ROCK BABY PORCUPINE!
Our baby porcupines are now 6 weeks old and had a health the check the other day--which also allowed us to determine what sex they were--and its 1 boy & 1 girl.
Not only are they getting bigger every day--but their head crest has grown a lot longer--giving them a punk hairstyle!
... We have lots on for the rest of the school, holidays--

BABY MEERKATS! MEET THE TINY NEW MEMBERS OF OUR MEERKAT FAMILY!
Meet our meerkat triplets, the tiny new members of our meerkat family, born a few weeks ago to mam Angelica.
... Clearly not wanting to be upstaged by our Porcupines introducing their babies, our meerkats have brought their super cute new arrivals outside very early at just 5 weeks old.
The group is being very protective of the new arrivals but visitors have been getting some brilliant views of them playing in the spring sunshine--our afternoon meerkat feed & talk is a good time to see them--
We are open all week from tomorrow and right across the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, 10:00am to 4:30pm.

MEET OUR TINY BABY BURROWING OWLS!

BABY PORCUPINES!! MEET OUR SUPER CUTE NEWBORNS!!
Born a few weeks ago to our pair of Cape Porcupine--you may remember that we introduced Hector & Henrietta late last year and it seems they hit it off better than we could have hoped for--and a lot sooner than we expected!
... The prickly pair of twins--one boy, one girl have just started to emerge from the den into the outside enclosure--under the super protective--and very spiky watch of mam & dad.
Some visitors have already been lucky enough to see them--but they are not always outside--the best time to spot them is at our afternoon meerkat & porcupine feed & talk--which takes place during the school holidays along with--
