LaBelle is a 600 capacity live music venue, club and creative space - run by music lovers for music lovers.
We like electro, retro, ghetto, house and techno; to disco, funk, punk, soul, indie rock and whale song. Not to mention everything in between. Our mission: to support the local scene and bring in some of the best names in music from across the globe.
Originally formed in the early 90s, we stood for over a decade at the forefront of underground art, music and clubbing culture until the venue was famously destroyed in the Cowgate fire of 2002.
In 2014, our institution that once hosted live performances by the likes of Oasis, Radiohead and The Libertines - not to mention being the home of ground-breaking club nights such as Manga and Ultragroove - was rebuilt and reopened.
Weβre from the school of thought that dance floors were designed to unite music lovers from all walks of life - from the moment you walk through the door to the βone more tuneβ chant.
Our promise is simple: good tunes, good folk, and good fun. Relax, have a dance, and let us do the hard work - delivering excellent music straight to your ears seven nights a week. Guaranteed to leave a big fat smile on your face.

Who remembers the monster that was Manga at La Belle Angele? (Pre-Fire)
Manga was pivotal in the building of the Scottish Drum & Bass scene and presented a broad range of artists from all over the world while championing every aspect of the sound.
... Along with innovative club decor and intense anime visuals Manga was a force to be reckoned with not just in Scotland, but within the UK club scene for 12 years from 1996-2008.

Nicky Blackmarket is one of the Drum & Bass scene's most well known DJs and is regarded as one of its pivotal figures. He has been playing Drum & Bass all over the world for the past two decades.
Nicky started DJing in the 1980s when he was 14 and initially played Electro before moving on to play all different types of dance music in house parties and on various pirate radio stations, including Pulse FM and Eruption FM, in London.
He was also part-owner of independent dance music record store Blackmarket Records in Soho in London. Nicky created a department within the store for the Hardcore and Breakbeat scene which would evolve into Jungle and Drum and Bass.
