Hi all! A reminder that between 8pm and 9.30pm Wednesday 12th September, it's our Mediterranean Wine Tasting night. This is a ticketed event, and as such we will be closing the bar from just before 8pm for those not attending.
We will be open as usual from midday until just prior to the event, so feel free to come in and say hi until then. We'll return to usual opening Thursday.

**** Mediterranean Wine Tasting night ****
Our second wine tasting night is coming up guys! This event will be held on the 12th of September at the bar, and will again be hosted by Alastair (with his colleague Beth assisting). We are hoping that if we can make this event a little bigger, we may close the bar for the tasting. This would enable us to use the front bar, and give you all a bit more room etc...
This night will be a tour through some of our favourite mediterrane...an/southern regions of France:

And as per the Alsace night you'll get to vote on your favourite wine, which we will then bring on to the boards as our Customers Choice!

NEW CRAFT BEERS in today!
Tiny Rebel - DUTTY : 4.2% ABV Unfiltered. Hazy. Murky. They might describe the look, but they don’t really describe what we’ve achieved. We’ve retained more flavour and a silky smooth texture in this Vermont style IPA, and made sure it’s one you can enjoy time and time again by keeping the ABV nice and low. A mild bitterness and a big juicy blast!
... Mondo Brewing Co - All Caps : 4.5% ABV Corn-like sweetness is balanced out with a massive dose of Czech Saaz hops for bitterness and American Cascade hops for flavour and aroma. Full, rich malt and hops dominate, but are complimented by distinctive grainy sweetness only maize can provide.
Loch Lomond - Southern Summit : 4% ABV Champion Beer of Britain 2016! This is a refreshing citrus led pale ale, with a fantastic grapefruit and lemon finish. With a crisp clean palate, and coming in at 4% ABV this is a brilliant session ale. We are the only bar in Helensburgh (and probably the West of Scotland) to have it in keg, so come get it whilst it lasts!

New for the weekend! Tonight we’ve introduced a truly cracking Pinot Noir wine flight, offering four different takes on this notoriously difficult grape. I’m really excited by this flight for a couple of reasons - firstly because I love red wine...I must admit that it’s my true love when it comes to the eternal white/rosé/red argument! And secondly because there’s a real strong range of styles on offer with this one.
We start off with our house Bourgogne, which is a classic l...ight example. It’s full of red cherries and peppery notes, finishing with a delicate bit of smokey blueberry. From here we travel to Oregon and explore the rhubarb and honeycomb characteristics the grape can offer under the right conditions...Then we move onto a beautiful plummy, soft example from New Zealand. Finally we end up on a 14% absolute belter from Chile. These are all gorgeous wines - my fave has to be the Oregon one though. Come try them and make your own minds up!

Two new additions this weekend at La Jupe. Both from the Northern parts of France - first up we have the wine voted on to the chalkboards by you the customer! Off the back of the Alsace wine tasting night, we now have a very palatable Cremant d‚ÄôAlsace. This sparkling pinot blanc brings strawberries and raspberries to the party, and is refined enough to stand in for a champagne in our view! Our second addition is a take on a... traditional bi√®re de garde by the most famous French brewer you‚Äôve probably never heard of...Daniel Thiriez started his microbrewery in Esquelbecq around 20 years ago, and has been consistently turning out great beers ever since. This amber example of his brews is lightly hoppy, with a beautiful caramel colour and a slightly spiced finish. At 5.8% it tastes remarkably clean and refreshing. Sant√©!! ūüćĽūüáęūüá∑ūüėč

It is true La Jupe is a wine bar, but we do have a decent selection of handpicked beers in our fridge alongside our delicious Loch Lomond craft lager on tap...I’m almost as much a beer fan as I am of wine so this was always going to be the case! To help you toast that most reliable of refreshi...ng beverages, we have the following on offer at the moment:
ūüćļ Helles Glen 5.2% - Floral and citrus aromas, a balanced malty/biscuity taste and a crisp finish. ūüćļ Spaten 5.2% - Classic Munich style lager, crisp, clean and very refreshing! ūüćļ High Wire Gapefruit 5.4% - Juicy, tart, and mouth watering. Magic Rock infused their West Coast IPA with pure pink grapefruit. Simply phenomenal. ūüćļ Dark Arts Surreal Stout 6% - A luxurious, dark, and smooth take on stout. Magic Rock have blended chocolate, spicey hops, figs, and blackberries to produce something quite special...I don‚Äôt drink Guinness, but I drink this! ūüćļ Cannonball Double IPA 7.4% - A true IPA, massively hopped and high in alcohol to survive long sea voyages. This one is huge in tropical fruits, with a malty taste running throughout. The finish is long and satisfying...come try it now before it‚Äôs gone! ūüćļ Blanche de Bruxelles 4.5% - Coriander and orange peel added during brewing give this wheat beer a deliciously complex aroma, and a well balanced fresh taste. Goes rather well with our cheeses! ūüćļ La Chouffe Soleil 6% - A special blonde beer, this is bottle fermented and unfiltered. The pour is cloudy, and the taste is delicately fruity, with a refreshing finish. Perfect for a sunny (or partly cloudy more likely) afternoon! ūüćļ Orval 6.2% - A Belgian trappist pale ale, this is slightly sweet, with subtle hints of citrus and floral notes. The finish is a little bitter, almost herbacious. A true classic!

Despite the weather, it‚Äôs been a fun week at La Jupe though! We had our first wine tasting night on Thursday - the lucky guys who came along got to try some truly beautiful Alsace wines, as well as sample some of our cheeses and meats...and a special treat of our home baked goug√®res ūüėčūüßÄūüĎćūüŹĹ
As part of the night, one lucky person won a bottle of Prosecco to take home ūüćĺ On top of this, the guests got to vote on which of the wines were... their favourite. The fave wine from the night will now be on our boards next month as ‚ÄėCustomers choice‚Äô - and it was a surprising (but brilliant) choice...As of August, we will be offering a very tasty Cremant d‚ÄôAlsace!

In other news, we have made a slight change to our Rustique assiette...It now features a classic ardennes pate in place of the smoked sausage. The pate is firm and meaty as you‚Äôd expect, and goes incredibly well with the brie de meaux - and personally I think with a glass of our newly listed Zweigelt as well! ūüć∑ūüėĀ
Talking of wine, we‚Äôre still offering our Sauvignon wine flights for those of you who like a nice crisp, zesty glass of white. Exciting news - our VERY FIRST hosted wine tasting night will be taking place on Thursday 26th July. It will be a guided tour through the beautiful northern French region, showcasing 6 of its most famous grapes/styles as below:
- Pinot Blanc - Gewurztraminer - Reisling... - Pinot Gris - Muscat - Cremant d'Alsace
You will be tasting each of these under the guidance of our guest speaker Alastair Allan, who is an expert on wines from all around the world - and more obsessed with grapes than us (almost!). He has been working in the wine and spirits industry for around 40 years, and is also a WSET trainer…so he really does know his stuff!
The night will run from 7.30pm to 9pm, and will be a ticketed event costing £25 per person. For this price, you will be talked through the 6 wines, as well as getting some nicely matched cheeses and meats to compliment them. At the end of the night, you will have the opportunity to place orders for any of the wines you have tried, and will receive them at our retail price the following week. In addition, you will (hopefully) learn lots about the Alsace region and it’s incredible variety of white grapes!

We stopped yesterday & sat outside with a glass of wine or two just what Helensburgh needed. Lovely place & so very friendly. Fabulous addition to the town a wee touch of class. ÔŅĹx

We popped in on the opening afternoon - what a lovely chilled vibe. I had a carafe of organic wine - sounds a bit poncy- but it was fantastic. We saw one of the assiettes - fab cheeses and hams with crusty bread - looked amazing!

I found the staff extremely knowledgeable,.and able to advise on there good range of wine, first class place to chill on a lovely day, with views over the Clyde. Will most definitely be returning.

Had a fantastic day sitting in the sun at La Jupe....... the staff are lovely and very accommodating. Beautiful decor and attention to detail and toilets immaculate. Fantastic addition to the town. Unfortunately for you guys we will be back. Loved it and love your tonic ÔŅĹ and I am fussy lol ÔŅĹÔŅĹ

The staff were so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable, the selection of wines was extensive and what I sampled was delicious, and the cheese was amazing ÔŅĹ The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and if we hadn‚Äôt have come in so late, I know we‚Äôd have been happy to stay longer. I will definitely be back, thank you.

Wine choices very good ... beer not so much. It would've been nice to feature some guest drafts from overseas rather than relying on two local brews and a selection of bottles.

Just discovered you today as we are visiting the area even welcomed our little Alfie ;). Friendly staff, lovely lattes and even better Hugo Spritz cocktail ! Classy new tasteful décor which we loved - somewhere nice in Helensburgh to go where the discerning can chat and relax. Perhaps the start of a new trend and opportunities? We will see you again :)
