About Lady Rocks Basketball

We are a family run club, who welcome all ages and abilities through the door. We train and play at our Home court – St Maurice’s High School in Cumbernauld.

The club started back in 2006, when we were formally known as St Maurice’s Basketball Club. Our founder, the late Jim Lay, brought together a group of young talented U16 girls from across North Lanarkshire and linked with the school programme at St Maurice’s High School to form our very first National League Team. In our first cadette season we finished being Silver division winners which was a mammoth achievement given our inexperienced and raw starting team. Jim took our team from strength to strength and soon we had a cadette (U16), Junior (U18) and Senior Women team on the floor.

In 2009 we made the link with the only Scottish professional team, the Glasgow Rocks and formally took on the team name the Lady Rocks, the female division of the Glasgow Rocks Family – which is where we find ourselves today.

We also operate Gladiator Rocks Basketball Academy – a community basketball programme for boys and girls aged 5 + . Fundamental skills are a focus along with each young person learning Leadership skills that they can transfer to other areas of their life.

All our coaches are qualified and PVG checked to bring the best coaching session to all levels. We strive to be the best team around and make sure that everyone involved has fun playing, learning and building confidence.
