The Lagafater Estate offers the chance for guests to escape, relax and explore their very own private 7, 000 acre Scottish Estate. At the heart of the Estate sits the elegant and traditional Scottish sporting lodge, capable of sleeping 16 people in authentic Edwardian style whilst maintaining the 21st Century luxuries that guests can reliably expect. With a 40 minute drive from the nearest civilisation, Lagafater is the perfect place to unwind, switch off and disconnect from the outside world - and with absolutely no wifi, mobile phone signal or cable internet, guests be guaranteed the chance to reconnect with themselves, others and with the stunning natural environment of the Lagafater Estate.

In the best tradition of a Scots sporting Lodge, the house is capable of sleeping 6-16 without ever feeling too big or too small. Originally designed to serve as a sporting lodge for Edwardian grouse-shooting parties, the Lodge still retains elements of the original interior design, atmosphere and fixtures. A full row of servants’ bells, original lighting fittings and ancestral furniture & portraits preserve the Lodge’s historical roots, whilst a recent program of maintenance and modernisation has sympathetically transformed the house into a warm and extremely comfortable holiday home.

As you step outside into the brisk Scottish fresh air, you are immediately on the doorstep of the beautiful and extensive Lagafater Estate. Rising from Low Mark at the southern end to Beneraird at the northernmost point, the Estate is dominated by moorland and small areas of woodland plantations. Now no longer managed as a full-time sporting Estate, the wider land provides endless opportunity for exploration, stunning walking and the remote romanticism of the rugged beauty. Closer to home, rampaging undergrowth has rendered the woods an beautiful combination of glens, forestry and beautiful glades and wild overgrown and exciting exploration as children and adults of any age trample and plunge into the wild bush.

The selection of wild countryside activities, possibilities and walking is plentiful whilst inside, the enormous selection of board games, puzzles, books and notoriously comfortable armchairs are available for afternoon downtime. And in the evening, the dining room is the perfect place to eat in true Downton style, the furniture can be pushed back to reveal a floor perfect for dancing, and you can retire outside to gaze into the recognised dark skies of south-west Scotland as you see the heavens as they are really meant to be seen.
