We are so missing our close social contact with our Royal Mail colleagues. Sharing laughs, sharing cake and sharing hugs with George. This photo is from last January, don’t panic.
Just a reminder this is a BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, but boy it doesn’t feel like it. The Post Office Counter will be CLOSED ON MONDAY.
So a quick reminder of our new normal opening hours........
... Shop is open 9am - 5.30pm Post Office is open 11am - 3pm (except Wed and Sat when we close at 12.30).

In an attempt to keep footfall to an absolute minimum we are encouraging customer to be thoughtful how they shop. We are constantly evolving our way of working and some customers already have an established ordering routine. Currently it is easiest to telephone through an order and then collect from the back door within ten/ twenty minutes of placing the order. We do have a delivery system too and this will be clarified when the order is placed if you do require delivery. Pasta and rice can now be bought in larger quantities. As from Monday 6 April the Post Office counter will only be open between 11am-3pm (closing 12.30 Wed and Sat). Badcaul outreach is not currently running.

We have gloves at the pumps. Plenty of fuel. Plenty of food in the shop (except for loo roll and flour!) Phone and we will go through the many options of how to shop ‘in isolation.’ Missing Elizabeth and Linda. Love to everyone. (Though we are now well practiced at being grumpy and focused!)... A lots of customers have already found ways of not needing to come into the shop. Thank you. We are trying to keep staff safe so the shop can operate. Please stay at home. Email orders@laidepostoffice.co.uk and we will deliver, or you can collect from back door. Or telephone and we will again aim to deliver or you can collect. We only are allowing 4 people maximum in the shop at once. Supplies are coming through, in the main. There is plenty of fuel.

And if I wake up tomorrow and it is a dream, I apologize. But we’ve had a fuel delivery today and the price has dropped dramatically.
Prices as from Thursday 19 March..............Diesel at 1.17 and Unleaded at 1.10 per litre.

Laide Post Office is adapting to the current situation. We have installed hand sanitizer at the front door for all customers so we can try to stay well to keep going. The Outreach service at Badcaul doctors surgery is having a break UFN for various obvious reasons. We have increased our delivery service to anyone wishing to stay at home and ask customers call 01445 731 252 to place an order. And here are some photos enjoyed through the Badcaul window .......

Sheep have been another focus our week. Various sighting of a sheep ‘wearing a cool box’ turns out to be one of Angela’s having caught his feeding bucket. The others are of the ‘naughty pen’ as Linda has been busy chasing her high-jumping athletic breed.

Newspapers may be a little later from now in. Menzies have changed the route. Czarek thinks he can get to us by 9.30am. On the trial run he got the papers to us for 9.20. No pressure xx

Today was the opening of our Customer Car Park. Monica and Ruth cut the tape with Brian and Joe still working in the background!! They have dug, spread, filled and rolled the potholes.

Now closed until Friday 3 January. Final customer on the pumps. Gorgeous final sky of 2019. Andy has been left doing end of month accounts.

Today was a damp day and we successfully cheered up Holger and Silke with our witty charm and described the scenery they couldn’t see!! This is a regular task we take on a wet day to ensure all cyclists fully enjoy the North West Highlands.
They were heading to Inverness and we were trying to convince them they could make it. One customer did point out there was no way they would make it if they stood all day in the shop!
But how far do you think they got? We have heard from them by email.

Competition time. How many sheep in the quadruple decker transporter? (Edit ... closest guess gets an ice-cream)..........Monica out putting stuff in the bin when she thought she heard a sheep!!!!

Meet Sasha. Cute. Looks familiar to a previous post this year? This time we have a miniature long haired daschund in a basket. Happily ‘basking’ in the sunshine. They were astounded that we had already seen a dog basket of the same design as they had bought theirs in Holland. Also astounded when chatting to the bikes on the pumps they had all frequented the same nightclub in the 70’s.... Rockerfella Cinderella in Leeds!!

In celebration of the yellow thing appearing in the sky, we had a yellow themed day!!

‘Laurens Last Shift In Laide’ as she heads off to Glasgow to study. I have been joking all day she is ‘sacked’ or she has ‘escaped’ and we got to the end of a long day without tears. Truth is Lauren will be missed by all of us. Especially Emilly who loves working with someone ‘young and trendy’ (sooo middle aged sounding!) Too many stories to tell!!!!
