Hi all,
Just a update now that we are closing in on the completion of the first phase of our refurbishment project.
It has been a huge effort since the start of 2018 and we have now successfully refurbished much of the downstairs area. Some photos of before and after are attached.
... The work has included a full refurb of the main hall, new kitchen, new toilets, new flooring throughout, electrical upgrade, plaster repairs, the removal of a cupboard to create a seating area in the hallway, the installation of an L2 fire alarm system, new fire doors, painting and varnishing throughout, as well as numerous smaller jobs.
As a fully volunteer run organisation, a huge thanks goes to all of our committee and the volunteers who have helped in areas such as cleaning, the many clear outs of rubbish, DIY work, fundraising and managing and driving the project to completion. We have certainly clocked up a lot of volunteer hours!
Many thanks also to those who have helped generously with funding the work, including Lanark Rotary, Border Biscuits, Tesco Bags for Help, Lanark Round Table, Loaningdale Trust and the members of our Patron Scheme. Thanks again also to the Mazdas and Screaming Divas for performing at the successful fundraising concert in February.
We have also been fortunate to secure the services of some fantastic local contractors including Horn and Neil, Alan Douglas, GN Tait, FMS Fire Safety, Mackay Flooring, Campbell Joiners and McMillan Plasterers. Thanks to all for the top quality workmanship.
It really is great to see the first phase reaching completion with only a few small jobs and decorative tasks to be completed. After taking a brief well earned rest, attention will soon turn to phase 2!
Lastly but not least, a big welcome to DanceRite who have started in the hall today. We hope you enjoy using the facility!

Today is the last day to put your blue token in the YMCA slot at Lanark Tesco. It will be a few weeks until we find out how much we have been awarded but any amount will help with the continued refurbishment of the YMCA.

We are delighted to announce that Lanark YMCA is in the customer vote for a Bags of Help grant from Tesco.
It’s a scheme which gives community projects like us grants of up to £4,000 – all raised from the sale of carrier bags in Tesco stores.
The public (that's you!) will now vote in store from the 1st of May until the 30th of June on who should receive the awards. Please support us in Lanark Tesco if you can!

Hi all,
A few before and after photos of the main hall now that the flooring restoration work is complete. I am sure you will be able to tell which are which!
There has been lots of positive feedback so far on the floor, a huge improvement!
... A big thanks again to the contractors carrying out the work in the hall. McKay Flooring for the flooring restoration, Horn and Neil the painting and R&D McMillan for the plastering, with a big thanks to David to giving up his time in the evenings to plaster.
Also thanks to our volunteer cleaning team of Margaret, Jayne, Eleanor and Mary for their hard work getting the hall back in order after each stage of the work.
This really is just the start and we still have a huge amount to do within the building to bring it up to standard. It really is great to see some progress though.
