All you need is love. Happy Valentines Day!

2019 is Blair Castle's 30th anniversary as an international event, so we're looking back through our photo abums. Today's Throwback Thursday is Blair's Event Director Alec Lochore looking a wee bit younger!

Just a few highlights from the #BCIHT trot ups last week.
Who was your pick for the most stylish riders? Did you agree with the Hi Ho Silver judges?

We received this stunning photo from Allison Claire, of Piggy French at the weekend. We do love to see your pictures from #BCIHT.
What was your favourite highlight of the week?
A super cute showing win? Spending time with friends in the Land Rover Hospitality? One of our fabulous international winners? Or maybe the champagne spray at the Event Rider Masters podium?

User

That's a wrap!
Thank you to our army of volunteers who made this week's event possible, along with our very valued sponsors who all help us make the event what it is today.

Even driving rain couldn't dampen the excitement of the final day of of competition at Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials.
Two wins for New Zealand and one a piece for Britain and Australia. Who won what on the final day?

User

Tim Price & Pats Jester WIN the Land Rover Blair Castle International CCI*** as the only combination to finish on their dressage score..
Sitting 3rd after dressage, New Zealand's Tim Price claimed the victory following both Tom McEwen and Izzy Taylor adding 4 faults in the final show jumping phase.

The whole four days were so enjoyable from early morning until late afternoon. So much to see and do, great shopping and food. Lovely to sit ringside and watch all levels of dressage. Particularly enjoyed the ERM competition. Well worth our flights from Stansted to Edinburgh. This was our second trip from Suffolk and we will be there again!

User

My friends & I travelled 7 hours to be at Blair. £17 expensive ??? We got to watch the Showjumping without paying extra. The trade stands didn't deflect us away from the eventing.

Compared to Badminton at £25 pp plus £10 car, we all had an amazing time.

User

My first time at Blair horse trials - it definitely won't be my last. So much to see and do. Great xc course and amazing riding from some top names. Some spills too. Not enough time to see everything in one day. Next year will stay at least 2

My favourite place in the whole wide world

User

Just had a fantastic 2 days, cannot fault anything it’s so well organised. Cannot wait to return

User

Ive been to the blair trials numerous times in the distant past and enjoyed the layout this visit.

It was my partner's first "horsey" event and he really enjoyed being able to stand right at the barrier fence and watch the masters class.

We both enjoyed a nice seat on the grassy knoll for the cross country by the water jump at fence 10.

Saltire Catering gets a particular thumbs up for very generous portions in the Riders Cafe tent

Very tasty.

It was great being able to enjoy our lunch and watch the junior classes warm up and compete.

Bravo.

Well done for a great event.

User

I came up from west Sussex to volunteer for the week and loved every minute. Will be back next year

User

I attend this weekend having booked a stall for my business Clootie McToot Traditional Dumplings. I had a fantastic time meeting all the other trade stall holders. My regular customers also enjoyed the event as the major normally attend food shows. The event staff went over and above to please. I will definitely be back next year . Thank you

User

First year I've attended since I've become disabled and the parking and attendants as well as facilities near by made the whole experience just as fun as it was when I wasn't poorly. Great day. Bit expensive for tickets but I understand there are ridiculous overheads. All in all, great day.

User

Blair is one of those special events, it is much more than the sum of its parts, and it's parts are many and varied, the cross country day is just magic, but I have been spell bound by the working dog displays, the shopping village is just magical and the choice of food is not bettered at any event!. Go to the next Blair it will become a calendar regular!

User

As always the event was well organised and a pleasure to attend 5 star for a great event, but the catering was appalling. The Supreme group let your event down by being anything but supreme with the food it sold and the prices it charged. The coffee man from Edinburgh who use to be at the top of the BRUADAR ring was a big miss this year. Scotland has some of the best meats and seafoods in Great Britain so why not show case them at your great event in such an atmospheric venue.

User

2017 was our first year attending with our Manor Equestrian Stand, the Blair team were fantastic, the Horse Trials superb and we met such lovely customers. Can’t wait to be back in 2018. If you’ve never been, then make sure it’s on your bucket list

User

had a blast vounteering and will probably be back again. However, there definately needs to be better communication and guidance from the organisers around what is expected of you and timings with defined breaks and appropriate cover for those in high pressure posts like arena staff. Great work from all the vointeers though.

User

Wonderful 🌸💕🐎tickets overpriced and sadly you can't buy two days on the gate only in advance - the car park attendants are rude an unhelpful An not befitting of an event such as Blair a man with a tartan red cap spoke to me in an awful manner on my entry to the Cara park on Saturday - horrendous.

Stallls we're great but not enough unique an different items! Horses were fantastic as with entries... cross country awesome!

User

One thing that is lacking is seating for the general public. Although we brought our own it was useless around the main arena as we were faced with eye level hoardings. Now seem to cater for members and sponsors and the general public do not seem to matter. Remember it is that same public who are buying the goods from the stall holders. without them stallholders would not be there.

User

Had a great day yesterday, but main arena could have done with more seating around the main stand. It seemed rather pointless to have an empty "hospitality" stand all day, when plenty of people could have used them.

User

Been six years in a row and as always enjoyed the great atmosphere, shops great , lots of lovely dog breeds, and of coarse the wonderful horses, though must comment on one female who was manning one of the crossings, very rude when shouted at a couple who were resting there arms on the fence whilst watching the jumping, to stop leaning on the fence, everyone was leaning on the fence, what was your problem , you really embarrassed the couple, .bang out of order.

User

I love Blair. I've been going for the last 7years & will keep going. I think it's a brilliant show This year me & my partner thought we'd treat ourselves to weekend membership tickets. We found them to be a total & utter rip off. They no longer do dinners (just breakfast & lunch). The food was ok but there was a better selection in the public bar. The posh loos didn't have soap to wash your hands with. I basically paid an extra £80 odd quid for a comfy seat. It's just not worth it.

User

As always, the event is well run and organised HOWEVER.....

The food venders?! (Or should I say vender, as they were all run by one group which meant they were a similar poor standard and highly

Priced as no competition!) let the entire event down this year. Blair should be an opportunity to showcase the fantastic food that can be produced by vendors in Scotland, using Scottish produce - hog roasts, seafood, venison and real beef burgers!

On the plus side - kudos to whoever was managing the toilets - it must take some kind of witch craft to keep every single toilet on site so clean and fresh. Well done!
