About Last Man Stands, Scotland

After great success in England, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Last Man Stands will be coming to Edinburgh for the 2014 season!

Last Man Stands, Scotland Description

Last Man Stands is a quick, exciting and rule bending version of Twenty20 cricket played by time strapped cricketers all around the world. In two hours you can have a full on, competitive game of cricket with your mates! Anyone can play, whether social or club cricketers. It's a great opportunity for you to get a few guys along from work that have been threatening to 'give it a go' for a while. The top teams get the opportunity to compete in regional finals, and the top teams from that go to the World Championships to compete for a ┬Ż10, 000 prize! The last one was at Lords, the new location has yet to be agreed, but its likely to be overseas.

Every player and team gets a world ranking, and results are updated on the website within 24 hours. Leagues will be played from May to August at Inch Park in Edinburgh, there will be midweek evening and Sunday leagues. A good percentage of any profit generated from the league will be redeployed back into cricket initiatives - primarily those that promote participation amongst children and those with a disability.

If you are interested in entering or joining a team or just want more information, please contact Paul Reddish on Edinburgh@lastmanstands. co. uk or 07585 048414.

If you work at a big office and are considering a work team, I can help you promote with a suite of posters and promotional materials. This could be a great way to get them hooked then get them along to your club! Even if you are not considering a team but would help out a fellow cricket gent by putting some posters up around your work and helping me publicise -that would be great - please get in touch!

New teams and players can be registered at Last Man Stands. http://www. lastmanstands.com/playcricketedinburgh. You can follow us on twitter @lmsedinburgh

LAST MAN STANDS EDINBURGH - WEEK 6
The return of more seasonable weather saw all 5 fixtures completed and bat dominating ball this week.
The Lobsters, Southern Sixers and The Ginswingers all maintained their 100% records, unfortunately for the latter 2 teams this means they are still looking for their first win! Worry not guys there is hope! MuccaŌĆÖs from the LMS Clapham League in London just broke a 17 game losing streak stretching back to 8 July 2017!!!
... We had 1241 runs scored and 32 wickets claimed. Our top performers were: Owain Ashley (The Sages) - 65 runs (from 24 balls) Neil Harrison (The Lobsters) ŌĆō 59 (24) Mo Razzaq (Southern Sixers) ŌĆō 55 (23) Lewis Mulholland (Arctic Mufties) ŌĆō 54 (28) John Bielski (Edinburgh Pirates) ŌĆō 53 (47) Ankusa Gandhi (Kraze Sports) ŌĆō 51 (30) Sannah Aron (Southern Sixers) ŌĆō 51 (31) Pieter Fourie (The Ginswingers) ŌĆō 51 (32) Doug Sheridan (Southern Sixers) ŌĆō 50 (25) Simon Hodgson (Edinburgh Pirates) ŌĆō 50 (28)
Special mention also goes to: Will Rowley (Edinburgh Pirates) who hit a last ball of innings ŌĆ£home runŌĆØ (worth 12 runs) off the only ball he faced and in the process recorded a strike rate of 1200. League Manager Joe Rose, playing for East Lothian Nomads in the LMS East Lothian League, scored his maiden LMS 50 with 55 (40) against Haddington.

LAST MAN STANDS EDINBURGH - WEEK 5 2 games survived the monsoon that we call the Scottish Cricket Season this week. EY Edinburgh Silly Sloggers won by 41 runs, restricting Kraze Sports to 116-5 in their 20 overs with some tight bowling. Star performances were David Reeves (EY Edinburgh Silly Sloggers) with 63 (39) and a fine all round game from Farooq Mohammed (Kraze Sports) with 50(36) and 3/28.
The other game also involved a run chase, going right down to the last ball, wit...h Edinburgh Pirates falling just short of the 167-2 set by The Lobsters. Rory Gibson 52 (36) and Dave Arbuthnott 50 (23) starred with the bat for The Lobsters.

LAST MAN STANDS EDINBURGH - WEEK 4 ¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦ ¤ī¦¤ī¦¤ī¦ With the full Edinburgh card washed out this week we have a look at the 2 games that did take place a small distance away on the East Coast Riviera.
2 relatively low scoring games saw Bass Rock lose their first game of the campaign, East Lothian Nomads register their first victory and Haddington maintaining their 100% start to the season.
... Early in the week Bass Rock will have felt that they had done enough in restricting Haddington to 119 for 6 in their 20 overs. Rob Bainbridge returned impressive figures of 3 for 20 in his 4 overs. Man of the match Peter Borrowman top scored for Haddington with 49 from 32 balls. Borrowman wasnŌĆÖt finished and played his part in pegging back the Bass Rock batters with 2 for 30. The rest of the bowlers kept things really tight and strangled the Bass Rock batting, finally restricting them to 109 for 6 for a 10 run win.
On Thursday evening Dunbar was the scene of the Nomads first win. Batting first Winterfield Wanderers posted a modest 118 for 6 from their 20 overs with Robbie Miller (pictured) top scoring with 50 from 37 balls. Top bowler for the Nomads was Sam Woodford who took 2 for 14 from his 4 with great support from the rest of the bowlers, especially Richard Webb who returned 2 for 18 from his 3 overs. Woodford endorsed a Man of the Match performance by scoring 41 from 32 balls in reply with great support from in-form Dudley Milne who, bringing his East League form to LMS, plundered 45 from 20 balls to see out a 4 wicket win in the 17th over.
LetŌĆÖs hope for some better weather next week!

LAST MAN STANDS EDINBURGH - WEEK 3
Only one game survived the weather this week but it was a cracker! The Sages, previously unbeaten, lost their record to The Lobsters in a game that produced 360 runs. Batting first The Lobsters posted 195 for the loss of 7 wickets. Particularly brutal on The Sages' attack were Tim Blades with 57 from 20 balls and then last man standing Neil Harrison posting 88 from 42 balls. The Sages, hoping for some stronger opposition this summer, set off at a good rate but again the aforementioned Blades (3/15 from 3 overs) and Harrison (1/20 from 3) stepped up and pegged them back with some key wickets. Michael Raikes plundered a 50 from 20 balls but never made it back to the crease to finish the job. A fine win for The Lobsters who are 3 wins from 3 games - seems their new name is working well for them!

In week 2, a number of firsts and two outstanding all-round performances.
Our first fixture to fall casualty to the weather, definitely not the last. The first win for new team KRAZE Sports. The first time The Sages have not won a game they started, yet they still retain their unbeaten status after a dramatic tied game against Arctic Mufties.
... 3 games played - 6 teams scored 886 runs and took 23 wickets.
Top performers for this week were:
Dave Reeves (EY Edinburgh Silly Sloggers) 50 runs (31 balls) & 2 wickets for 28 runs Farooq Mohammed (KRAZE Sports) 52 (38) & 3 for 20 Omais Altaf (KRAZE Sports) 50 (25) Rory McCann (The Sages) 50 (33)
