There's nothing like a good storyteller to capture the attention and the imagination of around 120 S3 pupils. Nick Hennessy told wonderful tales within tales from Ireland which held them enraptured for an hour.

Today the author Elizabeth Laird came to talk to the S1 girls about her books. She spoke movingly of her experiences in the Middle East, in refugee camps and the plight of the refugees. By showing photos of the people she had met, and putting names to faces she made the situation a lot closer to home for the girls. She showed how she has taken tiny incidents from her experiences and then woven them into her stories. This was a talk which will be remembered for some time.

Here is an S2 class taking part in Book Blind Date. They are busily unwrapping their 'dates' and will decide which of them will go home with them. The girls get two weeks to read the book before deciding whether their date was True Love, Hate or Just Good Friends!

Yesterday saw a fantastic visit by the author Lari Don who spoke to the S2 about reading and writing as well as reading from her book 'Mind Blind' and holding them spell bound with a tragic norse tale. The girls asked some excellent questions one of which was 'Did she ever doubt herself?' (Yes, she does all the time!). The girls were then able to buy books and get them signed.

Some Pupil Librarians hard at work unpacking a new book order (and getting first dibs on any of the new stock they fancy borrowing!)
