Things are thawing nicely. This is not clear water, it's still ice of at least 2" I will turn up early and take a look at the situation. I have seen the loch thaw incredibly quickly. I hope to be open, but will let you know as early as I can.

I can open ledyatt, but feel it's in the interest of the loch to defrost naturally. At this time of year ever day frozen takes weeks off weed growth and the loch needs to be left alone for another 24 hours.
The ice has thinned, but as always, until I can offer you the use of ALL the loch I will not open.
... Judging by the loch and ice. I expect to be open as normal from 8am tomorrow.
I apologise to all those who have been waiting patiently to fish ledyatt.
Mother nature has been at this a long time and knows what she is doing. I will not force open the loch before it's ready.
We have all year ahead of us for some amazing fishing. No rush..
Will update first thing tomorrow.

Ledyatt will remain closed today. Yayyy another day off. What am I going to do with my spare day.
Coffee and feet up in front of the fire I think.
... I honestly believe that we have seen the worst that this winter is going to throw at us.

Just seen latest forecast, seems Ledyatt is in for 1 last night of -4. Will update page first thing. Might have to wait another 24 hours. I wish they could get short term forecasts accurate. I suppose being so high up, can make it difficult to predict. David #ledyatttroutfishery
Ledyatt is opening fast. As always we want to offer you 100% of the loch, and not charge for only a couple of pegs.
So ledyatt will reopen 8am tomorrow.

Ledyatt sunday lunch.
These pics help remind me just how high ledyatt is.
Just come back from ledyatt, stunningly beautiful scenery. The snow is about 2 inches and the ice appears to be around 3-4". I could open it , but the boats are frozen and I'm unable to move them. ... There is no rush, this is exactly what Stillwaters need. Frozen over with a layer of snow, blocks light and sets back weed growth at least a month.
With the forecast showing rising temperatures and strong winds I expect to get the loch open tomorrow. There is no rush. Mother nature knows what she is doing. I'm Iong enough in the tooth to know to take the days off. It won't be long before we will be longing for a day off!

Given the overnight temperature forecast. I will attempt to open the ice tomorrow, with a view to opening on Monday..
Given there is currently a thick heavy blizzard combined with sub zero temperatures, I am sorry to say ledyatt will not open tomorrow. Will update as I expect conditions to improve dramatically from Sunday.
After taking a close look at the forecast. I will leave ledyatt closed on Friday.. I will open the top 50% as seen in the photos on Saturday morning. It only takes about 2 hours to clear it. Just pray there is a westerly breeze.

There is no wind at all today. Therefore I have decided on this occasion not to open the loch. It's to stay below freezing all day.
Liz has had a couple of 4lb fish on a comp size bug. Keith is just trying it now. The fish are taking so gently, you might not even notice they are there.

Right now at ledyatt. Sun shining, fish rising and clear water.
David #ledyatttroutfishery
There you go. Dam end is iced over where I have pushed it all. 17 pegs open in clear water up by the bridge. Both sides fishable.
David. #ledyatttroutfishery
Gone from frozen to open water. Just having a coffee then make room for all the bits to blow into. Open and fishing.
David. #ledyatttroutfishery
Ledyatt is currently frozen. I expect at least 20 pegs open by 9am. So no excuses lol. Get wrapped up and get out fishing. Still waters that try to remain open in mid winter need you to play your part by using the facilities.
