Some photographs from County finals day at Dalmuir Bowling Club with great local successes, with wins for Lenzie in the Pairs, and for Kirkintilloch in both the SIngles and the Triples.
Thanks to Alan Laurie for the vast array of photos, and also to Andy Wood, Keith Scobie and Gavin Ansari for all their photography - much appreciated

***DUMBARTONSHIRE PAIRS FINAL***
We are delighted to confirm that Scott Cunningham and Jack Deacon have become the 2019 Dumbartonshire Pairs Champions following a victory at Dalmuir Bowling Club over their Cardross BC opposition.
This is a a fantastic result for these fine young bowlers, who will no doubt wish to pay great credit to Steven Dow, who partnered Jack in all of the games in the competition prior to this match. Steven was unfortunately unable to play due to being ...abroad on honeymoon following his marriage to Fiona earlier this year.
Scott and Jack are the first pair from Lenzie to win this title, in which we had previous finalists in 1970, 1997 and 2004, and excluding our now six County Cup wins, bring the Club only it's eighth County title in its history so far.
Congratulations gents - a fine result.
Mon the Lenzie!!

***Dumbartonshire Pairs Final***
We look forward to this weekend as the Lenzie Pair of Scott Cunningham and Jack Deacon take on their Cardross opponents in the County Final at Dalmuir on Saturday afternoon (29th June)
Both guys are in good form, and it promises to be a good match, and indeed a great afternoon in Dalmuir with the finals in all disciplines being played.
... As ever, all the support possible will be greatly appreciated, so please try to get along to support if you can.
Spare a thought for Steven Dow - currently enjoying his honeymoon - who was unable to play in the final, but played a very significant part in getting the club to this stage.
Mon the Lenzie!!

Dumbartonshire Top Ten Result
Well done to all players tonight with four great wins against Albion BC.
Great performances all round with a strong comeback from Joshua Jolly in the Singles setting the stage. The Pair of Gavin Ansari and Ian McLelland had a convincing victory losing only two ends in their match, and these scores were good to see on the boards, helping the Triples and Fours to get into their stride and pull away towards the end of what had been tight matches in ...the first two thirds of both games.
There were some excellent bowls played across the green by both sides tonight - well done gents.

We had another beautiful day for our triples competition. A day of good food, company and bowls. It was a day when any of the teams could have won the cup but the winners by only one shot were Agnes Dickie, Susi Tuttle, Jeanette Finney. Hard lines to close runners up Irene Scouller, Christine Dunlop and Daisy Kerr

Kirkintilloch & District competitions update -
It was a night of mixed fortunes and hard luck in the ties tonight -
Joshua Jolly lost out 21-20 in the Singles in what must have been an exciting finish with the jack being trailed twice in the last end, only to rest with the opposition lying.
... In the pairs, Gavin Ansari and Scott Cunningham had a tight game throughout to finish 17 ends at 17-17 against Alan Fairbairn and Robert Jack from Campsie. The extra end finished in favour of the Campsie pair after a narrow miss on the last bowl.
The triples fell behind by a couple of shots in the early part of the game, that they were never quite able to close, losing out in the end.
I better news, we can report that Eric Corson won through in the Junior Singles, as did Stephen Wood who showed great fighting spirit to come back from a 6-13 deficit to win 21-18 - a great result.
Commiserations to those who lost out - we wish their opposition well in the next round, and congratulations to Eric and Stephen who go forward as our remaining representatives in the K&D competitions this season.

****BOWLS SCOTLAND DISTRICT FINALS RESULTS****
Well what a night we had at Cumbernauld tonight!!
First up we saw Joshua Jolly play against the host club's own Robbie Hillis in the Under 25's Singles. Robbie, probably the more experienced player at this level, having reached the Northfield stage a couple of years ago, started off the stronger and more consistent, and took an early lead. Joshua gradually started to catch line and weight after a few ends with the jack, then ...came back well in the mid section of the game, only then to gradually pull away to an 18-12 lead. Robbie took singles at the next couple of end to stay in the game at 18-14, then to see Josh secure a three to win the match at the next.
Commiserations to Robbie Hillis - there were some great bowls played in this match and some of his at times seemed to slip through gaps that weren't there, A huge congratulations however to Joshua Jolly - off to Northfield as District 12 Under 25's Singles Champion.
In the Fours, we saw a tremendously exciting match between the Lenzie rink of Gavin Ansari (lead); Ben Major (second); Scot Cunningham (third) and Steven Dow (skip); and the Greenfaulds four of David Lorimer (lead); Jamie Jamieson (second); John Smith (third) and Gordon Hannah(skip).
Greenfaulds took the early initiative to lead 1-8 after 6 ends, but clearly low scoring at that. Two ends later Lenzie were right back in the game at 7-8 down, to then take a lead of 11-8 in the next, when Stevie Dow trailed the jack by a couple of feet away from 3 shots against him, to lie 4 shots at the back of the rink. That would have sickened most opposition, but there was plenty of fight in Greenfaulds and by the 14th end the score was peels at 13. A single and a pair in the next coupe of ends saw Lenzie have the initiative going into the last end. A fairly tight head saw Lenzie having a better back position whilst Greenfaulds held the shot - needing more than a single, they were unfortunate to move the jack themselves to waiting Lenzie bowls. Game over
Lenzie Fours going to Northfied as District 12 Champions!! Well done gents, and commiserations to Greenfaulds.
Finally a big thanks to District Secretary Janice Grant for seeing all the competitors through the competitions, she takes away our best wishes as she announced that she would be standing down from the Gents role at the end of the season.
