If you have any 'like new' dog toys, beds, bowls, leads, collars, harnesses or anything else that maybe you don't use any more or never have, bring them along to the centre and we will be selling them off at Raw Essentials throughout December and all proceeds will go to our chosen dog rescues ππ
It's been a Goldie puppy kind of day! ππ They both love it and are definitely water babies! Preparing to become mud monsters! ππ©
Sorry for the blurry pictures.. puppies don't sit still for long!

Calling all short haired, medium to large, calm dogs who will stand still for about an hour...
On Wednesday we are doing a training day for thermal imaging scans! And we need dogs to scan! Ideally ones that fit the description above.
If you are able to help us out and offer us a dog to scan please do get in touch as we need a fair few!
... This is a non invasive, anaesthetic free scan. All your dog has to do is stand still whilst the images are being taken.

Swimming is hard work when you're this tiny! π΄ No dog is ever too small to come swimming! This is one of our tiniest swimmers at only 2.4kg! Tinkerbell broke her leg at just 6 months old but is doing great now and you would never know! Isnt she absolutely adorable!? π
Sending the biggest, sloppiest birthday kisses to our Georgina! This is her 3rd birthday with us and we hope there are many, many more to come! β€ Georg, you are a vital member of our team and make every shift a pleasure! We can't wait to see you get old with us π welcome to your 20s!! π₯³ππ
It's getting to that time of year again where we are using more towels and struggling to get them dry! π§π¦
Please remember to bring your own towels, it will really help us out π
Even better, bring a drying coat! Keep them warm and the car dry on the way home too! π
Sorry for the delay in getting back to people about the volunteer position, we have been mega busy and had lots of you apply for the position but hope to go through them all this week and get back to you next week βΊοΈthank you to everyone that has applied.

Badly fitting harnesses can have a massive impact on the movement of a dogs fore limbs. Subsequently, this can then affect the weight distribution going through back legs. Over time this will cause joint problems due to restricted movement, inability to fully extend the fore limbs, and more pressure going through the back legs. If the dog pulls this will put a lot of pressure through their shoulders and elbows. We see a certain brand of front sitting harnesses all the time.... Similar to the one in the photo below, and in the video link. It is these types of harnesses that can cause the above mentioned problems. These harnesses are as restrictive as having a band around your chest and upper arms. As Abbie demonstrates in the photos below!
Ideally dogs should be able to move as freely as possible, we always prefer running our dogs in just a collar if possible so they have full range of movement, and are able to fully extend! If you have a dog that pulls on the lead a Y or X type harness is best. There are loads out there but we are not naming brands. We do stock one type of Y harness but suggest looking around to see what you like and what you think will work. Please think about what your dog is wearing. Compare the forelimb movement whilst your dog is naked and check the extension is the same with their harness on.
For any advice please ask!
