Light Lab Project

Light Lab Project delivers workshops and events in the Science and Art of Light across Central Scotland to schools, festivals and communities. Workshops: Light Lab Explorer Workshop includes splitting light with prisms, joining RGB light torches to make white then getting creative with making colour shadows in CMY before drawing with ultra violet light and walking upside down using special goggles. Shiny Science - Learn about the angle of reflection through practical experiments including creative mirrors, persistent periscopes and crazy kaleidoscopes. Make actual photographs using a simple lens box camera and light sensitive paper. Events: Ivo Kohler Experience - Learn about the famous 1950's Innsbruck Experiments -step inside the giant eye tent to see the world projected on the back of a large eye. Then put a mobile box eyeball over your head to walk around seeing upside down. Maxwells Marvellous Mind- This event is made up of three parts that use infra-red, ultra-violet and visible light. Step inside the UV Drawing Tent to make amazing image transfers using UV light torches and UV sensitive paper. See yourself through the lens of a thermal camera in the hot and cold space. Become invisble behind clear plastic when you can't hide behind the black bin bag! Use the split and mix boxes and experiment using lots of dichroic prisms to make awesome colour creations and spectrums. Use the colour dark boxes to mix red, green and blue torches into white then create light landscapes in secondary CMYK colours using templates.
