About Link Community Development International

Link Community Development works to improve the quality of education in Africa.

Link Community Development International Description

Why education matters:

Education is one of the most powerful instruments for reducing poverty and inequality and lays a foundation for sustained economic growth in developing countries.

Link Community Development works at all levels of the education system--with governments, schools, communities, and parents--to unlock local solutions to improve the quality of education in rural districts of Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi and Uganda.

We provide training, tools and support to district officials and schools to understand how schools are performing, how to measure performance, and how to plan for improvement.

Join us: Invest in education.

It's Friday and we're feeling like some weekend fun! How about a caption competition? What would you caption this photo from a class in #Ethiopia?

Check out construction progress on these new classrooms! They're part of a brand new secondary school we're building in rural #Ethiopia. We're so excited, can't wait to welcome pupils soon!

Today is International Albinism Awareness Day! Sadly many children in sub-Saharan Africa living with albinism are still not safe in their communities, stymieing their opportunities and preventing many from attending school.
Our community-led projects work to help make schools safe for all children, including those with albinism. We are all equal, and we all deserve a quality education.

Role models can make a big difference to help marginalised children to feel welcome in school. Just ask Griseria from #Malawi! Who were your school role models?

📣 Construction update! 📣 Check out progress at the brand new secondary school we're building in #Ethiopia! We can't believe how quickly it's going up.
Once complete, hundreds of children will have the chance to go to secondary school for the very first time. Stay tuned for more updates!

Today we're giving a shout-out to all the amazing people who are part of their school PTA - community support adds so much value to children's school experience, just ask these gents in #Ethiopia!
We work with PTAs and other community groups to help them take an active role in supporting their local school and standing up for their children's rights to quality education. What's your PTA up to this term?

Some mid-week wisdom for you today. How will you take action to make our world a better, fairer place to live?

Apparently today is menstrual hygiene day!
Sadly girls all over sub-Saharan Africa are still missing school days during their period. Whether it's from a lack of sanitary products, lack of appropriate single-sex toilets at school, or ongoing stigma, Link is committed to tackling all of these barriers and getting girls into school and learning.
No girl should miss school because of her period. Period. Hit share if you agree.

Here's some lunchtime viewing! Which may lead to lunchtime dancing... We're really proud of our work encouraging all children to be welcome and safe at school in #Malawi, including those with albinism.

Is it wrong that we're feeling kind of inspired by this classroom in #Ethiopia and wishing we had a lovely song every morning to greet each other at Link HQ? Hopefully we don't need it for English homework, but we can't help thinking it would be a lovely start to the day!
