The local signs say Linlithgow is one of Scotland's oldest railway stations. There is a photograph from 1845 on a sign at the station.
The station is well serviced with a ticket office on the north side (trains going east). There is a pedestrian underpass to reach the south side for trains going west. On the south side there is a Bike & Go station for renting bicycles. There are vending machines for coffee, soft drinks and snacks. The station is located on the side of a hill and has a lovely view if you are tall enough to look over a wall.
