Today, the toddlers and preschool rooms have had very special visitors. In the toddler room, Murray Barnett, Hamish's dad, came into do some baking with the children. The children helped to mix all the dough together, before attempting to shape it into balls then flattening them to make some scones. The children all got to try these for snack. And in Preschool, Martin, Maria's brother, and Ashley came to visit and talked to the boys and girls about working in bakery. Martin s...howed us all his uniform and let the children try on a hairnet and explained why they have to wear them. Martin demonstrated some cake decorating and then he let the boys and girls try using proper piping bags and nozzles to decorate some cakes of their own. We would like to say a massive thank you to our visitors for giving up their time to join us today and for leaving us some extra gifts when they left πŸžπŸŽ‚

On Friday, our baby room children were lucky enough to enjoy a trip to the East Sands. The boys and girls explored the beach, feeling the sand and the different textures on the beach, such as seaweed and shells. The group took a walk right the way along the beach to the pier area and the children were able to investigate the different views from the other side of the beach, before coming back full circle and finishing the trip off with some play time in a small play park. The staff enjoyed this trip as much as the children and told me that they'd had a really lovely morning 😊

Recently in the preschool room we have been learning about jobs. Today Cora's Mummy and Daddy came in to tell us all about being a scientist. The children had lots of questions to ask and they each had a turn at looking through a microscope at flowers and coins. They also used a pipette to transfer water from a tub to a measuring tube. We all had so much fun!

Today the children in the preschool room made the most of the sunshine and had great fun on the village green! They played a Simon Says type of game where they all had to copy instructions like stand up, sit down, stand on one leg etc as well as enjoying a game of chase. The toddlers also enjoyed the sunshine having their lunch in the garden :-)

This morning all the boys and girls in the toddler room went for a visit to Craigtoun Park. When at the park everyone enjoyed having a picnic together before going off to play on the play equipment at the park. We then enjoyed exploring the fairy garden and then had fun rolling our Easter Eggs down the hill that we made in nursery yesterday.
