Join Green Hollows and the Real Junk Food Project Glasgow for the inaugural Forage + Feast event: Sunday 30th June 4-6pm.
----
The event will start with a guided foraging walk around Queens Park with Mark Hanlon of Green Hollows. Mark has an amazing knowledge of local flora, fauna, and fungi and will be offering his guidance and knowledge to help you on your foraging journey.
... You will be introduced to some interesting edible and medicinal plants, herbs and flowers that can be found in our parks and green spaces of Glasgow, collecting some samples (where there is an abundance) to use for the second half of the event.
The 'Feast' part of the event will be held at The Croft (https://glasgowlocavore.org/farm/the-cro ft/), where Laura from the The Real Junk Food Project Glasgow will help us turn our foraged delights in to something delicious to eat. This will involve the use of their mobile pizza oven and a few extra ingredients from Locavore! There will also be some delicious home brewed beer to sample - made with surplus Freedom Bakery bread in collab with the Williams Brothers brewers, and some kombucha for those not in to beer.
TRJFP is a social enterprise that uses surplus food to provide an eco-friendly catering option and for pop-up community meals #feedbelliesnotbins

Did you catch us on #TheNine last night? Reuben was on on the sofa giving his response to the baby steps by Waitrose to introduce packaging free shopping in one store. The feature stars about 39min in if you want to catch it again!

These beautiful red spring onions are in our veg boxes and shop this week! @ Locavore

It's interesting to see the suits at #waitrose following our lead. Now they just need to make it all organic, increase local sourcing, pay the #LivingWage and reinvest all their profits into building a more sustainable food future for our communities.. ..or you could just shop at Locavore.

A big thank you to all our generous customers who donate to the Good Food Fund. This month we sent £1157.07 worth of organic fruit and veg to Auldhouse Community Foodbank, Central and West Integration Network, GalGael, Govan Community Project, Govanhill Community Canteen, The Marie Trust, Queen's Park Govanhill Parish Church Foodbank (with Club 170) and The Space (Govanhill). Unlike supermarkets we don't make a profit on your donations. Here's more about the fund and how you can donate:

From riot to beautiful in a just a couple of painful hours!
Unfortunately due to too much random stuff being dumped we can no longer collect plastic for @stilllifeworkshop - they now only collect bottle lids so please don’t leave anything other than that.
We will still collect:... -crisp packets, -snack and biscuit wrappers, -oral hygiene packaging, -Ella’s kitchen pouches, -batteries and, -Ed’s Bees and Fit Pit glass jars.
Please separate your items if bringing a big bag of stuff so we don’t have to. No make up, random bits of plastic or anything other than what is clearly listed will be accepted!! It is too painful and time consuming for us to have to sort and bin stuff that can’t be recycled!
Thanks for all the great work so far, we’ve sent over 50kg of waste to be recycled which otherwise would end up in landfill!
