Loch An Eilein, Rothiemurchus
Reviews
I love this place, we lived in the house near the loch. It is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Lots of walkers and everyone is friendly
Beautiful place. Great for to walk, cycle around or simply take in the views.
It's very nice, but paying for parking is a pain! No option but cash too! It's more a gentle stroll and great place to have a picnic or meditate!
Great walks around the loch with views of the mountains behind. The little visitor centre is worth a few minutes. There is a nice beach area by the carpark where kids can safely play in the water.
Good and bad. Lovely long walks I did 14 miles and enjoyed the area. Nice loch and there is a small shop there as well. Bad points in my personal opinion are: 1 pay to park and 2 the 'camping area' as they call it is simply some grass right next to the carpark which is paid yet people who turn up at 5 and leave early didn't pay! Furious.
Lovely loch. Car park is £1.50 per adult and 50p per child but for this you get a map of the walks and some other info so all good. We took the 3 mile round walk to Rothiemurchus visitors centre where we had a great lunch. Lovely wood walk on way back and via another loch with lots of waterlilies on.
Scenic loch with a circular walk. Be aware you have to pay a small fee to park.
I've have been at Loch an Eilein with my wife, and it is such an awesome place. The views are stunning, and the walk really pleasant, more than recommended!
A really beautiful loch surrounded by mostly pine forest. Trails are easy walking and suitable for easy off road cycling. There is a charge for parking & a shop selling mostly souvenirs but also snack bars, ice creams, etc.
Second time we have done this walk. Always try to make time when visiting the area. Luckily we had beutiful weather which added to the walk. A lovely walk. Dry weather beneficial.
