Loch Ness (Future World Heritage Site

About Loch Ness (Future World Heritage Site

It is not only to show beautiful pictures and data for Loch Ness, it is also to have Loch Ness being registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, if we can with the help of others.

Loch Ness (Future World Heritage Site Description

The first project was initiated in 2007 by Dr. Stevens of the Stevens Associates (Wales) and the DMO Loch Ness, but as of today the project failed due to lack of consultation with the population (not only companies) in order to motivate all the people around Loch Ness. Papers and questionnaires will be posted for everyone to see the project (transparency).

TELEPHONE CONVERSATION Date: March 22nd, 2012 Entity: UNESCO - London Person: Ian White
SUBJECT: LOCH NESS on the List
... COMMENTS: Mr. White called me after exchanging some correspondence and my request to talk about some details about Loch Ness being on their Tentative list to be on the World Heritage, and my first question was “What is missing?”.The project has been abandoned for few reasons, after being reviewed by the UK: 1) Management (project not being managed as it should have been) 2) Preservation (no programme or details have been given relating to the preservation of Loch Ness and around the loch). 3) Local stakeholder (as per some articles of the Guidelines, they did not contact all the people who may have had their say). I also asked him about the £25.000 that has “been secured” by the DMO and they were maybe never spent since the payment should be done only once the object is registered. His recommendation is to discuss the matter with the DCMS (Department for Culture Media and Support), Historic Scotland and any other institutions who can be part of the project. He said that we might have to wait for another 10 years before re-presenting the file! ----------------------------------------- ------------------------------------ ACTION: - Have a telcom with Drew Henry (responsible of the region) and tell him about this conversation. - Create groups who could be responsible for various tasks (preservation, questionnaire to the population, incentives and creating jobs, State party, etc..)

Dear Mrs Northcote,
Thank you for your email and follow-up phone call. I'm sorry for the delay, but given the high volume of general queries we receive we aim to respond as quickly as possible, but replies are not always prompt.
As you may already know, in March of last year the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announced the UK's new Tentative List. The tentative list is a list of sites which the UK Government may consider nominating for World Heritage Status.... This tentative list is usually set for 10 year period of time. Information on the Government's announcement of the new Tentative List is available here: http://www.culture.gov.uk/news/news_stori es/7970.aspx
The new Tentative List was created following a review of applications received through an open application process run by DCMS. Details are available here: http://www.unesco.org.uk/applications_to_ new_uk_world_herit…
Loch Ness did not submit an application to be considered on the new Tentative List during this round of bids. A 2010 BBC article on this is available here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10542859
As Loch Ness did not submit an application, the review Committee will not have provided an analysis of strengths and weaknesses for a potential bid from Loch Ness, as it did with the other sites which submitted applications. A review of the Tentative List application (available at the above link) and the details provided by Ms Alberth from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, should provide you with information on the criteria for a successful WHS bid.
Further information on the World Heritage Site nomination process is also available on our website here: http://www.unesco.org.uk/becoming_a_world _heritage_site
Thank you again for your interest in World Heritage Site status.
Yours sincerely, Ian White

Increíble el pueblo, el viaje en barco pues no está mal pero tampoco es imprescindible, si el paseo por el canal

I searched for Nessy but he wasn't to be found. It was raining but it didn't dampen the day. I had a lovely time and the scenic views of the loch is breathtaking.

Feels like you are on Nova Scotia and Labrador coast. It is worth a visit, especially when you realise its geological link to North American land mass. Let us hope humans wil temper their fossil fuel lust sovthat Lochness and its surroundings get their fair share of rain and snow into future years and keep distilling heaven on earth.

Excellent place and people. You come away a believer!
