Reviews
Lowes is looking especially beautiful today, with it's reflective surface and the clear skies up above, despite the mild weather it almost looks as though a sheet of ice is covering it. Breathtaking!
Santa is coming to Dunkeld tomorrow and so are we! Come by and see our stall to get some great ideas for Christmas presents! Saturday 8th, 11:00 - 16:00 Between 3 – 8°C with light rain expected

After the blustery winds and rains of last week and a fine crisp day today, find out which winter migrants have been spotted on and around the reserve.
Six squirrels! A total of six squirrels appeared yesterday - all at the same time! With no leaves on the branches this is a great time to see these overactive omnivores! Their acrobatics and agility are a sight to behold!
A Sparrowhawk visits our feeding station quite regularly but only occasionally catches a bird. Have you ever seen a sparrowhawk catch a robin? We are debating this today - do sparrowhawks ignore ground feeding birds? What's your experience?
We've noticed that our woodland birds are not eating the seed in this wet weather. Instead they are taking shelter to be warm and dry. If possible it's good practice to take in your feeders to keep them dry and prevent peanuts going mouldy. 🐦🌧️ When the sun comes out tomorrow you can put out your dry feeder with plenty of food. 🌞🐦
Gin and juniper are inextricably linked, but how much do you know about the incredible plant that gives the spirit its unique taste?

What's the scariest thing about Halloween? 18,000 tonnes of pumpkin is thrown away every year. But, luckily for us, the birds love it! Put your pumpkin outside for the birds to enjoy once you've done, just like us at Lowes.
P.S. there is no candle involved, our pumpkin was lit by the sunrise!

Wonderfully peaceful place and a real privilege to see 4 Ospreys so clearly, especially as the 2 chicks had only just fledged. Staff were great, so friendly and helpful. Thank you.
We could have stayed there all day
Will be back soon . . .
Wonderfully peaceful loch where ospreys nest in the summer months, surrounded by natural beauty. Incredibly close views of red squirrels, woodpeckers and all sorts of other woodland birds. Good disabled access throughout. Safe kids play area with quizzes and events year round. Coffee/tea snacks available.
Wonderful place to immerse yourself in nature. Beautiful location, such a privilege to see osprey so close up.

A go every month and love it .! Very freindly staff who will talk you through everything you see ....
We had a lovely walk from Loch of the lowes to cally car 🚗 Park amongst the showers with the dog - then went inside the visitor centre to see the osprey chicks and watch the circling adults . Staff we're knowledgeable and friendly and attentive . Fantastic to see these wonderful birds in their natural habitat . A lovely experience .
Visited today and it was lovely to see Mamma Osprey caring for her chicks with Daddy popping by too.
It's so peaceful and a beautiful place for a visit.
Can't wait to set it up the Webcam to watch the nest from home too.
Ticked two life goals.....saw a red squirrel and an osprey (3 ospreys) in the space of an hour!!
A wonderful place to spend an afternoon.
Spent a lovely day watching the Osprey
So love this place ,so much wildlife to see and in the Spring Ospreys come back to breed and the view from the hides are breathtaking.
One of the most beautiful peaceful places I know. Wonderful wildlife, from the osprey returning in the spring to raise a family, the many waterfowl, the red squirrels or the many woodland birds on the feeders, always lots to see. Just take the time to sit down quietly in the hide or at the viewing window in the visitors centre and enjoy.
View from the hide something very special.
My first visit to Loch of the Lowes was back in the late 1960s and once I'd seen the resident male osprey taking a fish (a pike) in front of the hide, I was hooked and I have been visiting this wonderful place ever since. Whether you are indulging yourself in the myriad of species of wildlife or needing to release the stress of a hard working week, Lowes is the perfect place to come and spend a few hours and relax.
Magical place full of many birds, iconic Scottish mammals such as deer and squirrels, friendly knowledgeable staff. Watch the ospreys' family life all summer as they repel all boarders and catch enormous fish! Experience empty nest syndrome when they leave!
Loch of the Lowes is quite simply a little peace of heaven.
It has been fascinating watching the Osprey chicks hatching, growing, growing....
Great wildlife, fantastic people with real knowledge and love for nature. I was lucky enough to see an Osprey too.
Great place. Beautiful setting, lots to see- squirrels, woodpecker, deer and yellowhammer as well as fantastic views of the Osprey. Plenty of telescopes in the hide and free binocular hire.
Fantastic day - loved seeing the Ospreys and other birds
Always love coming here especially when the Osprey is nesting, saw the male one too. Lovely day out and so peaceful.
We had a very enjoyable afternoon at the centre and loved the quiet relaxed atmosphere. We were also very pleased that disabled access to the centre and hides wasn’t a problem. It was a shame that none of the scopes were low enough for my friend who is confined to a wheelchair and quite small to see. If this is something that could be considered we would definitely be back.
