Handcrafted mosaics

Loco Mosaics Description

Handcrafted mosaics for indoors and outdoors, for individuals and companies. Commissions welcome.

I find mosaic art so therapeutic and relaxing, and it has huge healing benefits. I sometimes find it quite difficult to quieten my mind for a long time, but I seem to do it naturally while mosaicing. It's a great way to get into a meditative or mindful state of mind. And if I have any decisions or problems to work out, I seem to do this without any conscious effort while I mosaic. And when I get truly in the flow, I seem to pick up the right shaped piece of glass for the space, time after time, which is truly a joy!

I enjoy sharing the joy of making mosaics with other people so that they too can feel its healing benefits. I love seeing the faces of my students when they’ve created a wonderful mosaic after saying they’re not creative, and hearing how much they’ve enjoyed the process and how they too find it so therapeutic. Because mosaic is such an accessible art form, everyone can create something beautiful and you don’t need to be what some people think of as "conventionally creative". Everyone is creative in their own ways and just express it in different formats. It's amazing when someone surprises themselves about what they’ve created!

These mosaics are now on sale at the Seagull Trust Art Exhibition in the The Howgate Shopping Centre, Falkirk.
Part of the sale price of all of the artwork sold there goes to the Seagull Trust, a charity that does brilliant work organising cruises for people of all ages with special needs on waterways across Scotland. There’s lots of lovely artwork on sale made by local people.

Spotted this cool mosaic seat that doubles up as a planter on holiday. And that’s my gorgeous girl trying it out 😍

This sunflower is made in memory of a beautiful lady called Jamei-Lee who recently left the world too soon at age 27. She loved butterflies, sparkles and sunflowers, and she brought sunshine to everyone around her through her smile, singing and love of life. She’s loved and missed by her family, friends and her son. I hope this mosaic will help bring comfort and happy memories of Jamei-Lee to them.
Making this mosaic reminded me of what life is all about and to hug my loved ones even closer.
Rest in peace beautiful 😍

Some of my mosaics are on display at the "Art in the Garden" exhibition at New Hopetoun Gardens - Edinburgh from now until August. I have four pairs of tickets to give away to the opening event on Tuesday, 25 June, from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. There'll be a tour of the gardens where you can meet the artists with drinks and canapés afterwards. If you'd like to join me there, let me know. :)

Lots of fun today with the P5 children at Our Lady of Lourdes in Blackburn. I held a Philosophy for Children (P4C) session with them - we talked about recycling and shapes, and then we made mosaics of countries’ flags with plastic bottle top lids they've been collecting for the last few weeks. I also handed over this mosaic that I made for them - a “Thinking Tree” for their school playground. They’re going to put it in a new “peace place” where the children can sit to think or take some quiet time. #P4C

One of my favourite flowers! Made with stained glass, pottery, glass tiles and beads, this will be on display at the Art in the Garden exhibition at the lovely New Hopetoun Gardens - Edinburgh, along with more of my mosaics and artwork from lots of other artists. It's taking place in July and August near Edinburgh.
