Lovage & Lace

This is a 1950s duette clip. One of my favourite items of jewellery. It’s a great present for the person who has everything as they are unusual. Made between the 1920s and 1950s this is a multi use piece of jewellery. Use it as a brooch as seen in the pic. Or it splits in two down the middle and the brooch pin is removed so you can use the two clips separately. The two clips can be clipped individually into the hair where they will hold in even slidey, fine hair as each clip has fine teeth to hold securely in place. They can be clipped onto the lapels of a jacket or used as cuff links. They can be clipped onto a neckline for a sparkly adornment or even used as shoe clips, front or back. A most versatile piece of jewellery!

I haven’t posted for a few days what with all that is going on and our little shop closed its doors a few days ago. However I will continue to put pics up for your interest and if you would like to send a present for some cheer, I can gift wrap for you and post out. Our local post office is also a general store so at the same time as posting I can pick up provisions as well as support a local business too. Essential in these difficult times. Hello, We are reeling as everyone is at the situation the world is facing. Our decision is to keep going as best we can. The Strawberry Barn @thestrawberrybarn remains open and whilst we at Lovage & Lace do not sell essential provisions, we will be at our shop Thursday - Saturday, sorting, making and taking pics of stock to put up on line. If you do want to send a gift or cheer yourself up we are happy to deliver locally or gift wrap and post out. Millie @milliescottbespoke will also continue to be available to do alterations and repairs from her studio at Strawberry Barn. We will all be battening down the hatches but we wish you fortitude in getting through this crisis.

Here are some 1930s long, green earrings which I made from an original 30s necklace and some vintage, 1940s floral earrings. Both have new, silver earring hooks. Happy New Year to all! Thought we would start the year with this majestic, beautifully carved, 1960s indian elephant. Considered to be a sign of intellectual strength and sturdy, earthy mental strength. I could do with both of these. Maybe I will just keep him after all ....

We will be at The Secret Herb Garden this weekend which is near Ikea on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Quirky garden centre with a lovely, little cafe and a select, little range of Christmas stalls. Saturday, 14th December 10.30 - 4.30pm

Millie is opening her studio up today to sell her beautifully made recycled leather and fabric off cut items. We will also have the talented Josef McFadden over from Glasgow with his gorgeous silk ties and his own bee print tee shirts, as well as locally based Andrew Maxwell Custom Leather with his quality belts and wallets.
