We had some lovely American visitors in our shop yesterday. I wonder if this was one of them! (Lots of you will know Rosie aka Love Skye Photography & Portraits Skye).

We've tried something a little different with one of our butterfly necklets. We've plated the silver butterfly with ruthenium, leaving the chain silver to create this contrast. The ruthenium coating on the butterfly gives it a dark, gun-metal tone. I love the contrast of the pretty, detailed butterfly with the edgy colour. The silver (unplated) version is £56.00 The plated option is £81.00.

Ok so it has been a VERY grey Monday but our shop has felt bright, fresh and dreamy thanks to the most beautiful and mesmerising display of artwork by one of our personal favourite local artists Helena Emmans. Helena's display features original paintings, prints, her totally unique thread pieces and silversmithing - silver spoons and copper pebbles. Multi talented or what!

We've had Helena Emmans here setting up her exhibition in our 'Wee Gallery' space!! We've kicked off with two very talented local ladies! We'd like to take this wee chance to say a really big thank you to our first artist, Vera. Vera put so much into her exhibition. We appreciated that and also her faith in our new idea, being up for being our very first featured artist. On a personal note, I so enjoyed having Vera visit us at the shop, spending a bit of time with her and listening to her words of wisdom. She's some lady! So, thank you Vera for your efforts and for just being so fabulous! We're now missing Vera's colourful work on our walls but are really excited about showing Helena's amazing work. More to come on that.....

This week is the final week of Vera Naessens' exhibition in our "Wee Gallery". The work currently on show is part 2 of her exhibition and she is running a wee challenge for this final week! This work was done on location, her sketches always being done from life with the colours sometimes being applied from memory later the same evening or the following day. This is the case for all but one of the pieces. Guess which one was painted from a photograph to get a free card or £5 off your choice of print or £50 off an original! Our "Wee Gallery" space is now complete with the addition of our sign which was made & framed by our pal Emma, Emma Noble Creates, in her studio over in Kyle. We look forward to showing some of multi talented Emma's work in our new gallery space in the near future. Now that we're in the height of 'the season' we're very much enjoying meeting new customers and catching up with regular visitors. We're nice & busy but we've had very few days where we've been too hectic to have a good chat in the shop or do a speedy job in the workshop. The usual warm welcome and Highland Hospitality awaits any visitors to Skye & Lochalsh this season. Broadford has a great vibe at the moment. Yes, the popular spots on the island are busy, but the island is ...not over run. Don't believe what you read 😉 We even hear there is some accommodation available peak season!! Come to Skye (unless you're an idiot reporter!), enjoy Skye & the surrounding areas. Many of our small local businesses, which are a part of the amazing community here, depend on visitors and silly reporting has the potential to do a lot of harm. Just plan your accommodation and avoid the famous spots at peak times. Explore other quiet, peaceful & equally beautiful areas. Take your rubbish away with you. Consider staying long enough to find out what Skye really has to offer and meet the locals rather than whizzing on & off with a check list. Simple really! Our new Sgurr earring design, which has a matching necklace, features a rock-like, uneven texture and was inspired by the texture of the rocky pinnacles of the Black Cuillin range and the standing stones present across Scotland. (We were watching Outlander at the time!!

After a few days in the shop this week, our little girl had me all to herself today while her dad, granny Fyona and Annie were at the workshop & shop. We met a friend at An Crùbh where we had lunch and a look around the Made in Sleat exhibition. We picked up these amazing banana & salted caramel cupcakes from our friend Laura (aka Creatures of Habit Cakery) to take back to the others at the shop. The power had gone off and they had to pack up before we got there with the cake...what a shame!!! Creatures of Habit Cakery & the others are there tomorrow (Sat) too.

Uh oh! We have a power cut and we don't expect to be up and running again until this evening so we have had to close early. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. It's pretty inconvenient for us too!

Along at the end of our shop you will now find The Wee Gallery! This space will showcase the work of local artists and will change to an exciting new collection of work every couple of months. Our first featured artist is Vera Neassens. We would like to send out a huge thank you to Vera for having faith in our new project and for putting so much creativity and care into her display. Pop in for a look!

It was Ladies Day at the shop today! Saffron Jewellery dropped by with lots of incredibly beautiful jewellery for her cabinets AND the very lovely Vera Naessens Art came to hang the very first work in The Wee Gallery @ Love from Skye! I had a great afternoon hanging out with such talented ladies!

Shocked and sad to be reading about a stolen bike and all of this visitors possessions from outside our neighbouring restuarant. This type of thing so rarely happens here. Please read the details of the original post, particularly if you were in the area around 6pm Saturday.

Well, we might be a wee bit biased about how fab Broadford is but...! I celebrated a 'special' day this week so took a much needed day off to celebrate and spent it relaxing around the village. The 3 of us headed to Deli Gasta for a morning coffee then took a walk through the beautiful community gardens and along the pier road. I then met my parents (many of you will know mum from serving in our shop and dad from the bank van and now as one of the kilted guides at Eileen Don...an Castle!) for a great brunch at Cafe Sia. We love Tom's restuarant and Tom (who works for Tom!) treated baby Willow like such a little lady! I then headed to the brand spanking new Skye Serenity Spa for a massage with Beth, Gemma's new pampering buddy. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing these treatment rooms and these girls are! The little lady & I then had a toddle around the cool & quirky market square before we met daddy again and head to Sleat for our evening out. Aren't we so lucky to have so many great places & people in the village?! And I didn't even manage to pack everywhere into my day!

Wonderful shop run by lovely people.

My wife Aileen took me in for a "Wee Look". She saw a silver dress ring with a choice of two stones. The ring was made up with her choice of stones and adjusted perfectly to her size.

When we went in to collect it I decided I'd like one of the silver Celtic rings. This needed to be adjusted to fit me. It only took three hours !

Everything in the shop oozes quality.

I can't praise the shop, or the people who run it enough.

Wife is still delighted with the Cuillin ring! We popped in on Sat 18th April but there weren't any small sizes that could be tried on. Paul said he was thinking he would make a smaller one for the display that week anyway so we came back on the Wednesday, tried it on and bought it. Fantastic wee shop, a real breath of fresh air and great customer service.

We recently visited the shop, looking for matching rings. We purchased the first ones we tried on ! Absolutely delighted....they are everything we wanted them to be and represent...LOVE. Fantastic customer service & products.

I purchased a necklace with the outline of the Cuillin mountain range to commemorate my week on the Isle of Skye. The owners were pleasant and very helpful in making suggestions for my stay in the area. I highly recommend stopping by this lovely shop in Broadford. It is definitely worth it!!
